Saal Digital UK offered me the chance to publish a photography book for free. As my STEAM TRAINS series received such a great positive feedback, I wanted to see how will these photos look in print. I am so impressed with the final result which looks more like a collection of prints rather than I book. I would not normally choose this kind of paper but for the ‘dynamic’ steam photos, I thought glossy paper would be the best choice. I did choose matte for the covers. Saal-Digital’s print exceeded my expectations: the paper is heavy (you can actually ‘hear’ its heaviness in the video below!), the colours are great, and the book opens flat (something I’ve always wanted)! Absolutely delighted with the final product! I haven’t had enough time to play with text, or with the various features that the software offers when you create your book - and because of the nature of my photos, I tried to keep everything clear and simple; the editing and designing software was very easy to install and use on my Mac. I also wanted to use this opportunity as a printing test, so I chose different types of images, formatting, backgrounds - and they all look great, in my opinion. Ordering and delivery were very smooth and fast, and I noted the exceptional attention to the packaging! I truly recommend SAAL DIGITAL for your printing projects, and I will definitely try it again in the future!
“You keep
Putting your hand on my shoulder
When I’m crying.
Thank you for that. And
For the ineffable sense
of continuance. You were. You are
The brightest thing in the shop window
And the most beautiful seldom I ever saw.’
(Mary Jo Bang)
**Lovely warm day and a great sense of adventure on the beach at Newport in Wales.
I still feel that warmth in my hand,
because a fragile creature gave meaning
to each of my days. A fragile creature
likewise now beneath a stone.
(Joan Margarit)
There are secrets behind the moon. There are secrets in your dreams. "There is hope in falling stars," whisper angels on the breeze, "In the footprints in the sand. In the symbols of old names."... and lo' the stars fall down like rain. Look what death the comet brings! A herald of our passing time; of plague; of feud; and soulless night. And now the angels turn on us! With flaming sword and spinning scythe they cut us down without mercy, leaving poisons on the breeze. And now our hope lies with the snake. It has held the seeds in its mouth - to grow the tree which bears the fruit that gives us strength to face the stars.
**I wiped my tears with the cruel fury of the deserted, and I could see myself - a new shape of my favourite skin.
You take me where the kingdom comes
