A response to elegantwoes's reblog:

Hi, short question. Will we find out more about the Dance of the Dragons in future books?
The first dance or the second? The second will be the subject of a book. The first will be mentioned from time to time, I’m sure.
George readily spoiled almost two decades ago, that a second dance of dragons will happen in the upcoming two books, and that civil war can only be about Dany and Aegon. No matter how much you want it to be otherwise, a full on war between Aegon and Dany is inevitable, especially when all the evidence points to Aegon allying with his maternal family and marrying his maternal cousin, Arianne, and Dany taking great offense to it. - elegantwoes

Yes, GRRM spoiled that there will be a Second Dance, two decades ago. What you forgot to mention is that he explicitly mentioned that it doesn't have to involve Daenerys in it.

The second Dance of Dragon does not have to mean Dany's invasion. - GRRM at the San Diego Comic Con, 2006

What would be more in character for Daenerys? An optimist or realist

Either Daenerys longing for family and being hopeful, sweet, optimistic: by believing Young Griff is indeed her nephew Aegon vi, happy and grateful for not being the last Targaryen, supportive of his claim, wishing him the best and being incredibly sad when he gets himself killed...

Or Daenerys being realistic? Not shying away from hard, but obvious truths, instead of only seeing what she wants to see: hesitant to believe and questioning Aegon's ✨fairy tale✨ of The lost, dead believed perfect Prince and the Golden Company's support, doubting his true origins, mistrusting his supporters (her fromer sellers Varys and Illyiro Mopatis)

How Daenerys's stan argues for her endgame as Queen (reasons why we believe she should/will end on the IT):

  • i) a perfect conclusion to her well-established ruling arc "from pawn to queen"
  • ii) ASoIaF has featured numerous wonderful Targaryen women, being denied their rights (including the first Daenerys) thus having the third Daenerys end up on the Throne would be poetic
  • iii) she has numerous parallels with Great Targaryen Kings such as Aegon The Dragon and Fifth,
  • iv) has proven multiple times that she puts her duty/people above herself (an admirable and much-needed trait in a leader)
  • v) it would be an organic conclusion to her and Cersei's constant anti-parallels as the two primary female rulers of the story, who are struggling to be seen as authorities/She-Kings in their misogynistic and patriarchal world
  • vi) it's perfectly set up: realistically speaking the future/current state of Westeros should easily allow Dany to install herself as Queen since she has the means, image (unquestionable heritage and claim), heart, and mindset, has proven to be a witty and sensitive politician, a successful military commander and a capable Conqueror, that does not need to rely on brute force and violence and can inspire love and loyalty in her people, while respect and fear in her (often noble-born and wealthy) enemies
  • vii) as Azor Ahai Come Again is destinated to unite the world against the darkness it would only be practical for Dany to hold the highest power position in the realm
  • viii) she would fulfill Aegon's vision of a Targaryen (re)uniting the realm to triumph against the Others
  • ix) Dany has the life experiences GRRM cherishes in a leader and actively tries to make the world a better place (smth that makes a hero for GRRM)
  • x) she is The Monarch/(She-)King in the series, best suited (and prophesied) to take on the task of rebuilding the world

*yet despite all of this, we are still incredibly unsure about
