Anyway, this is, this is, this is again back to depressed Schmidt, which I, I could watch, I could probably watch an entire season of this of like just a really depressed Max Greenfield and all the shenanigans that he, all the bits that he would do. -Lamorne
Loft meeting. He feels, Schmidt thinks he feels the effect of the birth control pills. That they've taken immediate effect. And now he's feeling all of these like feminine aches and pains. -Hannah
Yeah. With his blanket around his body. -Lamorne
But he realizes something now. He can't break them up. He's gotta deal with it. That's what Jess says. You gotta just deal with it. You gotta face it. -Hannah
Well, yeah, it's funny. It's that all in thing, right, which I again I can understand from like a really young, naive sweet dating relationship. Right. They said they're all in. They're not going to be roommates with living with two other dudes. They're choosing each other, they're committing, they're going to run away, they're going to start a new life. And he's the dreamer, right, So he's just like stuck on it and he's just like, look I'm here. By the way, he was not in some like weird, crazy, terrifying jail he was in just sitting in like the you know, probably the general manager's office ..and then going like, I'm committing I'm choosing you. I'm gonna shred this passport. We're not going back, as we'll follow up. The fear is just like in all relationships, there's usually an undercurrent of some whatever worry and his big worries if we go back, we're never gonna make it, like our relationship won't make it. So we're choosing each other. We have to cut ties with every other thing, and in true absolutely insane, over the top fashion, he's like, I'm gonna shred my passports so i cannot go home. -Hannah
They did this like little device to in this episode where they're like at the door right immediately one minute and they're at the door of their back at the loft and they're like nah, you know, like the end of Coming to America where they're like, nah, that's one of my favorite parts. And then they just like boot it and then they do this thing. I don't know if you remember in your you know, twenties, when you're feeling like, let's like run away and escape this life. We should just like drive to Mexico. -Hannah
I think it's cool about this episode is that it starts with one person with that Schmidt obviously sees a little bit of doubt in CC's eyes which sets off a chain of events which activates Winston, which then activates Nick, which then somehow ends up with Jess also in the ducts. And it starts with one idea of a person looking in someone's eyes, and it ends with a collapse of the ceiling onto the top of the all parties involved. -Lamorne
And so watching this episode where he is just sort of like, listen, you gotta let me do whatever I want. You gotta just like be there for me. Dead Dad pass. I was just like, he's just a girl on the Bachelor. -Hannah
So yeah, he has the Dead dad pass and, you know, which was interesting because you know, obviously in real life Dennis Farina passed away and which is very, very sad. It's interesting. It's, this was weird to watch and we had this conversation before. 'Cause Jake's in real life, his father passed. I'm watching it talking about pop pop and you know, my father passed and then Dennis, Dennis Farina also passed. You know, it's weird to watch it and then to like go and like wanna talk about it afterwards. You know what I mean? That's why Jake and I make jokes about it. We make jokes about it all the time because it kinda helps, you know, using comedy to, to to kind of get through whatever weird stuff is going through your brain while watching something like this. -Lamorne
Was like, you know what, I think I remember being at a fitting and they gave Debra McGuire the incredible costume designer on our show had that. And I feel like Jake's mom was there and you put it on and she liked it. And I kind of liked it too. I was like, man know it's ahead of his time. Those matching sets. He looked good in it. I didn't see it as like a crazy thing. I was like, homeless pencil. I was like, that's disrespectful. That's a cute set. I would rock that set in a heartbeat. I feel like his mom liked it. -Hannah
I mean. Well, you know, it was old school. -Lamorne
Old school. I like That seventies vibe. -Hannah
He does something though in this scene where Schmidt is they're wrestling over this chain that I like, it gave me like a physical reaction because I was like the idea of sticking your head in a casket. And then he's just like all day and he just was like a little one of those like bobbing for apples or like goose things or just like what is going on with you? And he couldn't stop himself. -Hannah
Yeah, well he's getting he's getting over his fear. It's like when you have a fear of something, you have to just keep doing it. -Lamorne
I think he's having a psychotic break. I don't think he got over his fear. He said a psychotic break and he's like I am death now, and you're like, sir, you have gone too far. -Hannah
Funny thing about him screaming all day? Have I ever told you the story about all day? -Lamorne
You maybe have, but I've forgotten. Say it again. -Hannah
Very famous New Girl thing. I did that. I did that, and this is this is you know this is a new Girl family and we all help each other out. All day was me. Because we were on the roof and there are saying he's like, He's like, I think the Schmid's line was like, man, I can do this all day, and. I was like, and I pitched him a joke. I was like, you gotta say it like ALL DAY!!! ALL DAY! and so he started doing it that way and it was obviously very funny. You know, his delivery was what did it? But then they started doing it back and forth and it became a thing. -Lamorne
[All right, so who came up with the freshwater bitch fish quote? It's the most quoted line for me]
I wanna say that's, that's scripted. However, it's hard to tell with when Max goes off script it when you think, when you think about it. But that is indeed in the script. The freshwater bitch fish. He just makes it seem so fluid and loose. -Lamorne
Oh, wait, there's this moment that happened. We missed the moment. Oh my gosh. I even written here because I freaked out about it right before, like Schmidt's character busts in And Jess is carrying the fish sticks. And they're about to get after it. You think, oh my God, it's happening now. They, they tried to fight this whole episode from that toothbrush moment. It's about to happen. And she drops the box and he goes, you dropped your fish sticks. And all it reminded me of is in Dirty Dancing, one of my favorite movies. There's the, I carried a watermelon moment. This iconic moment of being like awkward. And like, you just can't resist this incredible thing and person in front of you, and you don't know what to do. So you're doing something weird with a thing. And I gotta watch this movie It moment. But that's in the pilot of New Girl. And I was like, holy smokes. It's like a second bear. Dirty dancing references. And. I feel like the fish sticks and the watermelon thing. Oh Jesus. They live in the same world. -Hannah
So back to the Parking Spot. So now they're in a race, right? Because all of a sudden Nick says, I don't wanna be the decider anymore. I don't wanna be the suggester anymore. It's too much pressure. He wants the spot. He's being manipulated back and forth. He cannot take the pressure. Now he wants it. And so now it's a mad dash. Whoever is in the spot first Yes. Gets the spot. And it's one of the funniest things in the world to watch them scatter like roaches. And they just start running through the city. -Hannah
There's a standoff now back at the Parking. Spot. And they talk about the no nail oath. -Hannah
Ooh, yeah. Yeah. That was, that was aggressive. Which is a real thing. It's a real thing. It's not, I, I feel like when people live together, you do have a responsibility to keep it civil. -Lamorne
But isn't it usually unsaid and definitely unwritten? -Hnnah
No, I think what I no written is one thing. I don't this 'cause they've written down a bunch of other things as well, you know, but, but, but you have to say it, at least it has to be addressed. Like, listen, we wanna live peacefully. Please. If you're gonna do it, go. I don't know. It's, it's one of those things where you don't wanna screw up the dynamic of the place you live. -Lamorne
They come out and then Schmidt identifies because he did not know about the kiss. And now he finds out. -Hannah
He sniffs it out. He's so far the, when he looks at him he goes like, he goes, it smells like fricken Tijuana in there. -Lamorne
Like I feel like it's funny. I've seen that like as a meme, And I never understood where it was from or what it was about. It's so true. When you could all of a sudden like recognize sexual tension. And you're like, what y'all did, it happened. Something happened. The air smells different. -Hannah
I don't know where that came from. The dumbest boy alive. -Lamorne
Oh my gosh. The origin of the dumbest boy alive. I genuinely don't know. But we would just say it on set all the time. Dumbest boy alive. -Hannah
Dumbest Boy Alive. We would say Dumbest boy in school. -Lamorne
Dumbest boy In school. Dumbest boy in school. And we would just say it, I don't remember who started it. -Lamorne
I don't know if there's an origin story. it was just was said, there was a lot of inside jokes that were on our show that I don't remember the origin for it until Damon came along. Damon Kick started a lot of weird stuff. -Hannah
Yeah. I think that was a Max thing. I think he..-Lamorne
That's right. You're the dumbest boy alive. -Hannah
Dumbest boy at school. Like he would say that and he would yell it. -Lamorne
And then it just became part of the show. Yeah. But it was said off camera a lot. -Hannah
Oh, 'cause we meant it. Mainly when talking about Jake mainly. -Lamorne
That's so funny to think that Kobe Bryant heard India get your shit together. -Hannah
