The Piper’s Price FAQ
I love all the excitement and energy I’ve seen for The Neverland Wars sequel! Since The Piper’s Pirce is now available for pre-order on Amazon, I thought I’d celebrate by doing a quick FAQ for all the curious readers.
Are there other fairy tales beside The Piper's Price involved in this universe?
Tons. I think if anyone can find them all, I'm going to have to send them autographed copies of the whole series. If The Neverland Wars built the world of modern Neverland and reality, then The Piper's Price is here to populate it. As you can imagine, there are a lot of characters from fairytales who have different loyalties, depending on where and what they are from. I had a wonderful time establishing allegiances and motives for fairytale characters caught in the midst of this war.
Will this book have Captain Hook in it?
This question gets lumped in with those of you asking why I have a fairy named Hollyhock instead of Tinkerbell in this story. For the ease and simplicity of everyone's marketing departments, The Neverland Wars has been categorized as a “fairytale retelling,” but it's really not. The Neverland Wars is a modern-day continuation of J.M. Barrie's original book, and for that reason you're not going to see any of the characters who died in the original story, not in the flesh anyways. Plenty of you have already caught onto how Captain Hook is getting symbolically reincarnated however...
Are there going to be pirates?
Yes! One of my favorite things about The Piper's Price is that it finally gives me what I need to weave back in the traditional pirate (as opposed to the adults who are just trying to steal Neverland's magic.) In the first book I talked about how the pirates had left Neverland for more dependable, less life-threatening, white-collar plundering. If I were a pirate though, I think I'd get pretty tired of that though, wouldn't you? Depending on how familiar you are with the original Peter Pan, you may already know where I'm going with this. I definitely left you hints in the first book of the trilogy.
Will there be more mermaids?
There will be more Lasiandra! One of the things I love about this book is it is so much more about Gwen than Peter, and you get to see which relationships she pursues and how she builds them. So definitely brace yourself for more star-gazing, mysterious predictions, and good girl-talk with Gwen's best half-fish friend.
If Gwen's in reality, is she going to find out more about the mystery police?
Yes! Prepare to encounter espionage, break-ins, and all sorts of whimsical intelligence work you dreamed of when you pretended to be a spy on the playground... only with higher stakes. The Piper's Price gives readers a chance to get to know the organization, and even some of the people, behind this strange agency that is going after Neverland. I'm really proud of how well Gwen stands up to danger in this book, and I think readers are going to enjoy seeing her growth now that she has a taste for adventure.
Are Peter and Gwen going to get together?
What kind of spoilery question is that?! Besides, you already have all the information you need to figure out the answer :P
Is this one going to be a crazy cliffhanger too?!
Hahahaha... you guys are never going to let me live that down. No, this one isn't nearly as bad, I promise. By the time we get to the end of the second book, Gwen is thinking clearer and understands herself well enough to make cohesive, conclusive decisions. Of course, that's not to say the story will be done... not by a long shot. I'm really excited to throw this book out into the world as I work on the third and final book. I can't wait to hear what everyone thinks, especially since I got so much good feedback from reviewers and readers about what needed to happen to improve the series. I know a lot of you are really biting at the bit to get the next installment, and I assure you, I am just as excited to get it to you!
