mhhmmmm
are there really people who dislike dean? like, that's dean winchester. that's the guy who knows every scooby-doo episode. that's the guy who loves apple pie and burgers. he's a bit of a clean freak. he is scared of flying. he is a great brother. he's good with kids. he loves rock music. he can cook. he wants to help people. he is a (girl) dad. he is the sun and a beacon of hope for people in need. he is the best at his job. he loves his mom. he is a mother. he is connection and he is compassion. he is the narrative heart. the show stars and ends with dean. all because he cared, all because he loved and loved and loved. dean who feels things more acutely than any other human. dean who's done everything for love. dean who is the most caring man on earth, the most selfless, loving human being. if you don't like him look inwards.

#The holy trinity of queer agony
i just saw someone say that ofmd, wwdits, and good omens are the new superwholock...
The fact that Good Omens alone was enough to get OFMD and fucking SUPERNATURAL to trend again is hilarious, devastating, and so fucking queer of it tbh
everything i do i do with playful and bisexual intent
i feel like the boys’ representation in “it’s a terrible life” is a really accurate and insightful look into how they work on an Instinctual level.
at first it seems like just a funny bit for dean to be the one dismissing the ghost thing, but dean wesson actually fits perfectly into dean’s personality. i mean, think about it. hunter dean is OBSESSED with the job. he lives breathes and sleeps hunting. he’s proud of who he is and what he does, and he enjoys being a part of something. this episode shows how that’s part of dean’s intrinsic personality. he needs order. structure. discipline.
sam is mischaracterized as ‘the emotional one’, but i think dean’s a lot more of a romantic than him. he likes the idea of a stable life, whether that’s hunting or a cushy corporate job. he wakes up at 6am everyday, has a distinct routine and a circle of friends. he does herbal detoxes and drinks frothy rice milk lattes.
life is a package for him. dean likes fitting in. he doesn’t like breaking status quo. he instinctively looks to blend in, whether that’s in a corporate environment or with his father and other hunters. dean likes the idea of family. connection. he needs people, people who are familiar and trustworthy. he’s very community/family oriented. he’s not a lone wolf.
but sam on the other hand, he’s intrinsically in tune with weird frequencies. he’s strange and he picks up strange things. he cares about people and appreciates connection but he values himself and his gut instinct more. he loves sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong. he doesn’t give a fuck about blending in. he didn’t as a hunter so he sure as hell doesn’t in a goddamn tech support cubicle.
sam straight up tells dean that everything about this feels wrong. and you can TELL that dean feels it as well. sam tells him that he thinks he should be doing more, it’s in his blood, he hates everything about this fake life. but dean deflects. no matter how uncomfortable he seems he pushes it down in favour of predictably and routine. even if deep down, he knows its wrong, it takes him a lot more time than sam to admit it.
this shows that sam is more than ‘hunting bad’ and dean is more than ‘hunting good’. it was never about hunting. sam refuses to turn a blind eye. he WANTS to rebel. it’s his nature. he instinctively looks for things that don’t line up and he calls that out. he doesn’t care about the backlash. dean needs stability. he needs people. he needs to feel like he’s a part of something. it’s why he brushes off that feeling of wrongness so quickly at the beginning of the episode, because he’s willing to overlook some of the bad for the benefits.
it’s just like how hunter dean is willing to defend john, defend the grisly violence of hunting, and convince himself into thinking this is his only choice. sam refuses to do that. he instead latches onto that feeling of otherness and rebels even though it costs him family and familiarity.
A Sunday afternoon, the chicken's in the oven and all the veg is prepped - I fancy doing some drawing while it cooks! I think I'll use this orange paper and these pastels:
Now, what shall I draw? Aha! Here's a pretty reference!
Yum! Now, what colour shall I use? I like the grey... I'll do a rough shape...
The orange paper doesn't come out very well on my phone - this one (above) is about right, but it looks different when the light in my kitchen changes... annoying. I'll start putting the features on next, with the grey pastel, my squishy rubber and finger-smudging:
Looks a bit weird, doesn't it? More smudging will help - I find I can get more of a sense of form and shape if I smudge.
I'm not convinced that eye's in the right place. But I'll do some work on his mouth. With my squishy rubber and my finger to smudge...
Ooh. I quite like that. I'm altering that eye, though.
The eye's still not right. And he needs work around his mouth and jaw.
His nose needs work. (Still not happy with that eye.)
Okay... not bad...
I'm just getting the urge to attack him with my favourite charcoal pencil, though, nicely sharpened with a knife and sandpaper and used on its side. And maybe a little chunk of white pastel for highlights... Could be a mistake. Could go horribly wrong. Let's do it!
Oh - well, I think I like that. What do you think? Better with the charcoal, or should I have left it alone?
My roast is done. In fact, some things are a little overdone, but it'll be fine...
The biggest barrier to my enjoyment of a lot of spn fic is how many writers take the things Dean says about himself and his relationship with women etc at face value... I am not saying you have to arrive at the same conclusions I did, but like, you have to understand that Dean Winchester is a character Dean made up. He is performing that guy, all the time, EVEN TO HIMSELF.
it's definitely a performative masculinity. we see this even in the moments he lets the veneer slip before sam catches him, and then he "corrects" his behavior. dean understands what masculinity is supposed to be, so he mimics that to prove his manhood to those around him, make sure he meets the expectation. that doesn't mean it is a true reflection of who he is, it's just a reflection of how he wants to be seen
dean: "what the hell?"
cas: "guess again."
cas, you cunty little bitch, i love you
the problem with supernatural is that they never fucking committed to anything
if it was going to be a tragedy, make it a fucking tragedy. turn dean into john and make him hate himself even more, put sam back on the demon blood or bring back his psychic powers and make him evil for real, force cas to be unable to save dean and make him watch dean die in front of his own eyes, make jack slowly become corrupted with chuck's power and make the audience watch him becomes the puppet master we thought was defeated
if it was going to be happy, make it actually fucking happy!!! let them all live!!! let sam and eileen rebuild the hunter network from the ground up and turn the bunker into a shelter for hunters passing through, let dean and cas fucking talk about the confession, let dean open up a bar or a mechanic garage or even a silly little bakery and take on a bobby-esque role in regards to hunting, let cas reconnect with the angels and repair his relationship with heaven while also staying with dean and becoming a beekeeper, let jack be a fucking kid and use his powers only when he wants and let him make friends and learn what it's like to live
instead the show did both of these halfway and also badly
I see a lot of people say Dean would be all "baby, honey, sweetie" with Cas if they were dating but I choose to believe he would absolutely marry that man and still call him "dude, buddy, guy"
porqué no los dos?
sam: so you killed fifty thousand people for us
cas: *looks at dean*
cas: no
if cas had dressed like this more often or all the time we would've had destiel canon by season 6
Not only is Misha an ally in the (Also, Cas is gay.)🌈 way, but he spells Cas correctly and that’s what makes him a true ally
