“I guess everyone’s forgetting how Kamala—“

nobody forgot shit! we have bigger problems! the only alternative to Kamala is a man who wants to wage war on every minority in America. A man who wants to push us further into full on fascism. any “but that one time Kamala” talk benefits only one person right now and that’s Donald Trump. do your part by keeping that shit to yourself! nobody fucking asked and whatever you’re bringing up isn’t more important than queer people’s lives — which ARE at stake. just shut the fuck up and vote, republicans are counting on infighting among the left, so just put it aside. It can wait, I promise.

Kamala called for a cease-fire in Gaza back in March, as a VP without presidential power, and before she had any sort of nominee incentive. If she wins, this could be a turning point. Even if you don’t care what happens to Americans, do you care about this?

“no one for president” you sound like such a fucking cringe edgelord and unless u plan on staging a massive revolution in a country of 300 million spanning 3.8 million square miles and overthrowing the government before November I would suggest voting for the candidate who DOESNT cater to white supremacy subcultures, getting involved in local community services & initiatives, donating to causes, or campaigning/protesting instead of this performative mock activism

You guys realize this means we ALL have to vote now. No "don't wanna vote biden" excuses now- if we don't vote our rights are going to be taken away.

"but Kamala Harris did-" I don't fucking care

There is never going to be a perfect candidate, but there is a worst case scenario candidate, and it's the fucker that's gonna win if you don't vote

are there really people who dislike dean? like, that's dean winchester. that's the guy who knows every scooby-doo episode. that's the guy who loves apple pie and burgers. he's a bit of a clean freak. he is scared of flying. he is a great brother. he's good with kids. he loves rock music. he can cook. he wants to help people. he is a (girl) dad. he is the sun and a beacon of hope for people in need. he is the best at his job. he loves his mom. he is a mother. he is connection and he is compassion. he is the narrative heart. the show stars and ends with dean. all because he cared, all because he loved and loved and loved. dean who feels things more acutely than any other human. dean who's done everything for love. dean who is the most caring man on earth, the most selfless, loving human being. if you don't like him look inwards.

one of my friends (also a leftist) said that because we live in utah, it doesn't matter who he votes for, and there's no way he will vote for a "fucking cop who was complicit in genocide."

he is telling his friends in utah that they have zero say in who is president, so they shouldn't vote for harris.

and, i love him, but i think that line of thinking is really damaging.

if the stakes were lower for this election, then sure! i'm all in favor of third parties, and i do think that should be more normalized. it would be great to get to a point where we have more viable options than just democrats and republicans.

but this election is against trump. if trump wins, we get project 2025.

this isn't your father's republican party that just wanted to lower taxes and have more free trade. we are looking at rights being taken away for several marginalized communities. major changes that will set us back decades. there is too much on the line, and harris needs every single vote she can get.

saying you won't vote for harris because you live in a red state and don't think your vote will count... like a vote for a third party will??

you're really just saying that you don't mind trump winning, or if you do, you aren't willing to actually do what it takes to stop it.

as for being complicit with the genocide, aren't we all? our tax money is going to the genocide. we are complicit, whether we like it or not.

and harris has openly advocated for a ceasefire! also, do you think trump won't be complicit in the genocide? do you not think he would actively support israel? i'd rather have a president that calls for a ceasefire than one who doesn't. i'd rather have a president who is willing to push back on israel than one who be pushed around by israel.

there's more hope for a ceasefire with harris than there is with trump, and that's worth something.

my friend said "when people look back at your history, don't let them see your name next to a war criminal's."

honestly? in this election, i would rather have my name seen next to harris because that shows i understood that the future of our country and the safety of its citizens was more important than my personal moral superiority.

i don't just vote to make a fucking point. i vote because it impacts people's lives.

it seriously feels like some people are okay with watching the country burn, as long as they feel morally superior.

kamala harris is better than joe biden. she has been more openly supportive of a ceasefire for gaza. she is just as progressive as biden, if not more so.

it should be easier to vote for her over trump. trump absolutely cannot win.

harris might not be perfect, but leftists will be able to accomplish more if she wins than if trump wins.

Among the other things that seem to pop out of nowhere, I hear that Harris is apparently "very pro-cop" as a reason why we shouldn't vote for her. I would like some clarification about that and also maybe reasons why we should be voting for her, just for the naysayers.

The Kamala cop thing comes from her jobs as San Francisco District Attorney and California Attorney General, and the fact that Kamala and Cop have a kind of ring to them.

the fact that Harris had worked on enforcing the law was used against her in the height of "Defund the Police" but ultimately was pretty unfair, just quickly I found an article from a public defender about Harris progressive record to be short as both DA and AG she fought to scale back incarceration, she refused to seek the death penalty, she wouldn't prosecute marijuana possession cases (back in 2004), as DA along with then Mayor of San Fran Gavin Newsom she took part in the city's short lived gay marriage moment in 2004

here she is in 2004 marrying a nice Lesbian couple, over 10 years before gay marriage would be legal nation wide and 8 years before President Obama announced her supported it.

Harris put a particular stress on prosecuting sex criminals, rapists and human traffickers, and well

"She Prosecuted Sex Predators, He is One"

thats the answer, every time.

Who is Kamala Harris?

These are all from her Wikipedia page. I have picked the top 5 for each of these sections. Maybe you think other things are more important, these are just the things that stood out to me:

Highlights as District Attorney of San Francisco:

  • was tough on gun crime: created a gun crime unit, set 90-day minimum sentences, raised bail for gun-related crimes, and prosecuted all assault weapon possession cases as felonies.
  • created a hate crimes unit specifically focused on LGBTQ hate crimes against children and teens in school.
  • was (and is) against the death penalty; during her time as DA did not cave to pressure in several cases to seek the death penalty.
  • helped create the San Francisco Reentry Division, aimed at helping prisoners reintegrate after their sentences are through; the program became a national model.
  • refused to enforce prop 8, which was at the time California's ban on gay marriage.

Highlights as Attorney General of California

  • introduced the Homeowner Bill of Rights and fought against banks, mortgage companies, and credit card companies.
  • fought for financial reimbursement for public employee and teacher pensions.
  • fought for environmental protections and secured settlements and indictments against several oil companies for oil spills.
  • conducted a review of implicit bias in policing and the use of deadly force and introduced implicit bias training.
  • declared a law that California law enforcement had to collect and report police violence.

Highlights as a California Senator:

  • condemned Trump's Muslim ban.
  • opposed Trump's appointments of Betsy DeVos and Jeff Sessions, his nomination of Neil Gorsuch, and voted against confirming Kavanaugh.
  • tried to make lynching a federal hate crime.
  • urged the Trump administration to investigate the persecution of Uyghur Muslims in China.
  • voted to convict Trump on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

Highlights as Vice president:

  • as President of the Senate, cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate that ensured the passing of the American Rescue Act.
  • has cast more tie-breaking votes than any other Vice president in US history - she is responsible for many of the achievements of the Biden administration actually passing the Senate.
  • created task forces on corruption and human trafficking.
  • created a women's empowerment program.
  • has criticized Israel's actions during the current conflict in Gaza and called for an immediate ceasefire.

you know what, fuck joe biden. fuck joe biden. i am so deeply enraged tonight. thousands of palestinians have been murdered in a genocide funded by US tax dollars, and his administration thinks it's a good time to post memes?? most young people i know are living paycheck to paycheck (or debt to debt), and they think they can appeal to us by posting goddamn memes? at least one hundred people were killed in rafah due to an israeli air strike during the superbowl, and biden posts a dark brandon meme? what the absolute fuck? over twelve thousand children have been murdered in cold blood by the israeli military, funded by the united states, funded by my goddamn taxes, and biden tweets about seats on airplanes? i can't afford to buy meat, but thank god part of my paycheck is being spent on bombing children. i am ashamed i voted for him. if i ever met the man, i would spit on him. i would throw both my shoes at him. i am disgusted and angry. god fucking damnit

this post got more attention than i expected and so i feel a responsibility to say this: i will still be voting for biden. that's not because i don't have a backbone. it's because trump is worse. if trump wins, he will continue to support the genocide, and probably even more than biden has. trump will also make things worse here in the US. things will get worse for lgbtq people, poc, people with disabilities, the environment, regulatory agencies, the economy... and we cannot let this man, with his hateful rhetoric, have the podium of the presidency again. his hateful speech is too dangerous. both candidates are bad and it fucking sucks, but we cannot let trump win again. that would be objectively worse. we are still living with the consequences of his presidency (see: the supreme court).

am i happy about voting for biden? no. and just because i will vote for biden, that doesn't mean i'll be silent. under a biden presidency we can continue grassroots efforts and push for change. organize. create community and act. biden losing this election will be way worse than that if he wins. i'm angry that this is where we are at, but we should be motivated to change the system moving forward.

it's still free palestine. keep your eyes on what is going on. don't relieve pressure from your elected officials. don't forget what is being done to these people and don't stop using your voice to advocate for them.

at a farmers market right now, and i watched a father, holding the hands of two of his kids, approach a woman with a dog. as he got closer, he asked if his kids could pet her dog. she shook her head, said no. he immediately backed off, taking his kids back to their picnic blanket. a few minutes later, the woman brought her dog over. even though the kids couldn't pet the dog, she played with the dog close to them so they could watch. i think people are fundamentally good.
