i have very little of my own nonacademic writing that is more than about eight or ten years old, so i think of it mainly notionally (the large binder of adolescent poems which i lost, somehow, circa 2002; textural and visual memories of the key motifs that obsessed me; awareness, in a vague way, of a broad spectrum of pretensions). i think i know what i was like when i was twenty. but i just opened a folder from mid-late college and oh boy. oh boy
