While I'm on the topic of Alynna Nechayev, let's have a moment for this glorious story, set twenty-four years before TNG begins, in which a young Commander Nechayev enlists the help of Lwaxana Troi in a plotty adventure of ladyfriendship and its victory over Romulan nefariousness.
Great prose, great engineering antics, fantastic characters both familiar and original, and an A+ subtle appropriation of Wagner.
