#the number of people who simply have not noticed the visual design of this game or do not understand how to appreciate it?#genuinely i feel like i live on a different planet to those people#the art direction of this game is just on a different plane entirely from absolutely everything it's being compared to#including from's own whole catalogue#i've been playing botw the last few days to keep my brain from whatever and it took a while to get into because it looks decidedly meh#by comparison to a game whose *every. single. viewpoint.* is a mangificently composed artwork unto itself#i think honestly a lot of the feeling of excess and exhaustion with the scale of the game -- including my own -- comes from just#overwhelm by too much magnificence. that sounds so stannish but i honestly mean it.#there are other problems too (repetition mainly but also some bagginess & enemy overtuning in the late game)#but i really think like. aesthetic exhaustion. is part of it#like i can't do more than an hour or so in any museum or gallery. and elden ring is 150 hours of art#you know#anyway#soph plays elden ring
