“In terms of my character, Grace… I mean, here’s a woman who’s in her 70s who when Frankie says ‘what do you want out of life?’, can’t answer the question. She has so lived to please other people, men, that she just doesn’t know; she can’t even make a wish. And that’s a heavy thing to deal with, and it’s not uncommon. The other thing is that she has a real hard time with intimacy, scares her to death. … So, as a woman, you can be old and still not have found yourself, and so the question going forward is ‘can you, in your 70s, find yourself?’ My belief is it’s never too late if you… especially if you’re lucky enough to live with someone like Frankie, who nudges her all the time to move in the direction of self-discovery. You know, for all the differences between us, and the way we aggravate each other, the fact is you’re the perfect person for me to end up with, because you’re what I’m lacking.”
“And vice versa.”
