Hey, just wanted to say that the video you linked to the Dark Souls essay the other day convinced me, a Bad Gamer, to give ds2 a try-- I'm having a lot of fun with it, and wouldn't have given it a shot without that video! I always found the reputation too intimidating, but the challenges actually are surmountable with patience and I love that!

The door opened and I started in surprise. I had seen the face before, on a Greek statue, or in some indefinable territory of the mind. We were meeting again after a long absence but not for the first time. “Won’t you come in?” The voice had a birdlike quality that was nearer to song then speech. There was a bowl of wild flowers on the table, another pile of books on a chair. We sat down and looked at each other, or, more correctly, I stared. I was waiting for a question to prove my integrity and the extent of my knowledge. All the moments of a long apprenticeship, no more to be counted than the ears of corn, flashed across my brain. “I wonder if you could tell me something,” H.D. began, “have you ever seen a puffin and what is it like?”

i really screwed myself getting overinvested in a profoundly underdeveloped character from a carelessly plotted story. the whole point of fan fiction is supposed to be that i don’t have to make all of these decisions myself! the answers are supposed to have already been supplied by someone else! i did not come here to worldbuild and create basic premises, i came here to stage feelings moments in someone else’s garden! but this garden is just a patch of niceish dirt with a sign stuck in it reading ‘idk good luck lol’

Ah, the demon goddess! Are you like the independent fireball that was your predecessor? I make her look like a vacillating cream puff.

Happy birthday @rooftopprendezvous!
