strap yourselves in for a rant, sorry mutuals.
so i just found out that there's a film about emily brontë in the works, and the cast announced so far are for the roles of emily, branwell, charlotte and -- get this -- emily's 'conflicted lover'.
no anne. no fucking anne.
yeah, okay, i get that this is a film about emily, but she never HAD a conflicted fucking lover, her closest relationship was with her sister anne. who is not featured. or at least, it doesn't look like she will be.
and then the writer says oh yeah it's about 'a young woman daring to form herself, to embrace her true nature'. honey. she didn't give a goddamn toss about men. this film is not about her 'true nature'. it's a heteronormative hollywood plot that focuses on an entirely fictional relationship, instead of drawing on the enriched connections between siblings.
if you couldn't tell, i'm fucking pissed.
