Terracotta mold from Roman Gaul, most likely used to make a relief medallion that would then be applied to pottery from the Rhône valley. On the mold, the god Mercury, seated at right in his sanctuary and holding his caduceus staff, receives a sacrifice of burnt offerings. Artist unknown; 1st cent. BCE/CE.
