Link just had...A magnetic pull to him. He was kind and thoughtful, could make you laugh and also give you a good chase. He put out an energy most didn't have, but were greedy for. He was warm, open, and Zelda, with her cold and calculating ways, was perhaps the greediest soul to ever come across him.
Links to the recent prompt-based short fics - thanks to everyone who submitted! I still owe some answers, but wanted to post this before Zelink week started. You can also read them on a03 as long as you're logged in.

Ask First
Link wouldn’t fall asleep—he would not—not with Sheik standing there looking so smug with those red eyes on him; that was definitely a smirk under that mask, and if Link wasn’t such a nice guy he’d have something snarky to say about it after this huge yawn.
“I’m going to win again,” Sheik said with even smirkier eyes—“that’s yawn seventeen and it’s only 3:51 am.”
Link made a face—“How the heck do you know it’s exactly- WHAT?!” Link cried as he watched a stone with a weeping eye rocket itself into the air, Sheik remaining unreasonably calm as it did; Link had to be dreaming (and had therefore already lost), so he shrugged, closed the distance between them, gently tugged that pesky mask down, and kissed Sheik—and got a nasty palm-strike to the chest: “YOU DON’T ASK FIRST?!”
----
Epilogue: “NO FLIRTING, NO WARNING, NO NOTHING?!” “I thought I was asleep!” “What, you only kiss in your sleep?” “Yes! NO!” “I’ve never had a boyfriend who wouldn’t kiss me while conscious.” “That’s not- wait, what?” “We’re still playing, by the way.”

[Thanks for the fun ask, Ace! 😄]
Seven Years... (Sheik/Zelda, Ocarina of Time)
sheik is so important to me
Forest Temple Entrance
“The F’ing Water Temple” - as my Legend of Zelda piece (yay, Dark Link),and the last of three, for Bottleneck Gallery’s 3NES show which will be premiering in Brooklyn, September 6th (finally got the proper date!)
Fun fact: I’d never played all of the way through Ocarina of Time until about two weeks ago. As a child, a) my family didn’t own an N64, and b) when I tried playing it at a friend’s house, my friend would tell me I was ‘doing the puzzle wrong’ or ‘this game’s too hard for you,’ yanked the controller out of my hands, and proceeded to beat the game a second time. I sort of had wrongful disdain against Ocarina of Time as a result. So upon playing it through, all grown-up now, I had everyone and their mom tell me the Water Temple was just godawful and was their least favorite temple.
I FREAKIN LOVED THAT TEMPLE. WHO THE HELL CARES IF YOU HAVE TO KEEP CLANKIN YER IRON BOOTS ON EVERY 2 SECONDS? GIMME THAT OVER LENS OF TRUTHIN’ EVERYTHING.
At this point, I've made enough Zelda lore/theory posts to need a navigation hub for them. Here it is! I'll add new posts to this list when I make them.

I would LOVE some whump from you if you're so inclined, either:
ST:VOY Icheb (plasma burns or reassimilation, perhaps?)
OoT or BotW Link (self-administered field care?)
You da best! Congrats on your milestone!
[Thank you so much embyrinitalics! I'm going to do both your prompts--Zelda first 😄]
Dyed Crimson
Link drags himself against two crates, a thick trail of blood marking his path, away from the Gerudo he’d managed to knock unconscious with his hilt, but not before one of her sharp scimitars had done this—blood leaving his thigh so fast his head already swims, his breath already comes quick, and he takes his belt off with hands like violent earthquakes, wrapping and tightening it just above the deep, clean slice in his leg, cursing himself for his idiocy (he’d be better off, wouldn’t he, if he hadn’t disabled his rival—if they’d meant to kill him, they’d have done so, not dumped him in a pit with all his gear); he spends a moment staring, fascinated, at his once-white trousers, now dyed crimson on one side, and some still-functioning part of his mind moves his hands to his pouch, to his carefully-wrapped needle and thread, and tries desperately to thread the needle’s eye.

I had a lot of fun with these prompts! Thanks for organizing 🦎
All Newt's Zelink Week 2022 entries!
Congrats on the 100!! for the 3 sentence prompts what about Link seeing a shooting star and makes a wish?
He Had Once Been Right
It starts as a flare of light halfway up in the southwestern sky, growing in width and brightness in the span of a second and striking somewhere south of Lake Hylia, and Link knows it’s precious, knows someone will retrieve it and sell it to the old woman in Kakariko for a high price or perhaps in exchange for rare potions—but Link himself does not move from the castle battlement; his place is here, more-than-half-cursed, his triple-pointed helmet a weight at once of remembrance, penance, and bitterness, for his fleeting wish (his selfish, impossible wish) if granted would destroy Hyrule in restoration of his beloved wife.
For @zelinkweek2021 day 7 Mortality: Lost Eternities
He faced the Hero of Twilight with knowledge and experience, faux confidence that took him years to learn while he wandered purgatory. Each step he took around that foggy Hyrule, new and unfamiliar, was laden with regret and sorrow—until he met Link. He nurtured the hero of this new age, taught him things other swordsmen could only dream to master, and when he saw his natural ability to wield a sword he knew the Goddess chose well.
“You have at last mastered all of the hidden skills,” he said. “Although I accepted life as the hero, I could not convey the lessons of that life to those who came after. At last, I have eased my regrets.”
The Link of this new Hyrule doesn’t seem to understand his words, but the Hero’s Shade goes on anyway.
😭😭😭 This is short. Well worth the time to read it.
