Thank you so much for this ask. I have a giant soft spot for this one.

💕My Love Is As The Sea is supposed to be a traditional Zora love song sung to the Zora's Domain music in BotW. I made up the lyrics for chapter 43 of Link's Thought Brambles, in which a bunch of the guys in the story (including Link, Robbie, and Seggin among others) sing it together. Link's familiar with the song because of his time spent in the Domain when he was a kid.

I had also made up the melody, not just the lyrics. I like to sing and record music, so I very, very much would like to actually record it at some point over the top of the Zora's Domain music and record it as if it was the guys singing it in this chapter. I'm pretty savvy with recording software, so my plan is to record myself singing it in various ranges, then alter the pitches so it sounds like different voices singing together.

The issue with doing this is having the time and enough quiet around me that I can get away with doing the recording in the first place. Also, my microphone broke when a cat knocked it over.

Why Fi Started Talking in Link's Thought Brambles

In Link's Thought Brambles (my whopper of a 56-chapter, 200,000-word BotW AU fanfic), Fi is silent until chapter 48. Some have asked why - here's the answer, and also the answer as to why it has not been explained explicitly in the fic.

"Link's Thought Brambles" fic post list.

Link accidentally activates the Adventure Log feature on the Sheikah Slate pre-Calamity, before its software has been updated by the Great Plateau Tower. This software version produces a more... er... complete log.

This is the Adventure Log+ AU! Link and Zelda are aged up to 18. Most chapters are rated T, but some are M. Warnings appear before all M chapters, and truly NSFW parts are skippable. (Specific Warnings: some foul language, and NSFW in parts 18, 22, and 54. Some strongly suggestive stuff in parts 31, 34, 38, and 53. Part 53.5 is skippable and very NSFW).

There are... a lot of new followers on this blog! So, here's what's up. I have two long projects in the works: - Adventure Log+ is a sequel to Link's Thought Brambles, a 200,000-ish word pre-calamity AU fanfic. - Adventure Log- is a screenshot-prompted fanfic-ish type thing that's not in the same AU (but has the same Link character with the same backstory).

I decided to reblog my master post list for Link's Thought Brambles because it comes directly before Adventure Log+ (so if a reader were to start reading those posts out of order, it would be confusing, and it also introduces the character of the Link in Adventure Log-).

I'll post more one-shots at some point, but for a while I'll be concentrating on these longfics.

My next chapter for Adventure Log+ will be up soon.

Zelda’s grumbling stomach takes a sudden and unexpected backseat to a newfound sense of mischief. “Oh, Link?”

“Yeah?” he asks, clearly suspecting nothing.

“…Race you!”

Zelda kicks off the damp ground, bounding like a mountain doe, an irresistible grin splitting her face wide at the sound of his surprised "AH!" She hears his feet scramble to accelerate on the wet grass and wills her legs to fly her forward faster than she’s ever run.

Sirenity

A short story for Zelink Week 2022's 'Age' prompt (see end for notes).

The head cook has just described Zelda’s appointed knight as ‘a might pale.’

It’s a vast understatement.

Link stands as ready to follow Zelda from the kitchen to the mess as little Prince Sidon would be to swim up the lavafalls of Death Mountain and dive into its caldera. She can see he’s been sweating despite the chill of late fall, but any trace of heat has dissipated. Even his hands are pale, and while he remains motionless for the most part, his eyes flicker with nauseating speed across the wide opening between the castle kitchen and the cavernous room in which he had once eaten his meals (before the melee).

You're right on, he definitely does have thought brambles. That's what I considered to be the 'literary' meaning, where it's a metaphor for what's going on inside Link's very messy head where he keeps getting stuck on things. Then the pun is the rambles thing. (Though now that I think about it, that also has literary meaning because he really is rambling a lot in his head 😂).

Maybe I'm mixing up some words, but I meant real brambles! Blackberry bushes! I thought the pun was Link thinking about food lol

You're not mixing it up at all 😄. The idea came from the bramble bushes in my garden! And you know what? DOUBLE PUN because I totally didn't think about the food thing specifically regarding the title, which means you're brilliant and have found the rare triple-meaning 😲🤩. I was using the in-game wildberry canes (all of Myrri's bouquets, really) as part of the imagery, too. I think I myself overly-limit in my head what I count as a "pun" because I'm used to thinking of them as intentionally corny jokes.

And also THANK YOU!!!!!! 🥰 I'm glad you're enjoying the fic! Writing it is such a labor of love, and it's wonderful to hear when people like it!!

We need a smart, solid, fool-proof-certified plan that actually makes sense.

Planning… is not my strength. I come UP with plenty. I execute few. I complete even fewer. I did pretty good on the festival, but Zelda had a huge part in that, too. The two of us together and a lot of manpower made that work. AND coffee! That stuff was good. Could use some right now.

It’s true the end of the festival wasn’t great… but that wasn’t down to our planning. Not really. Some stubbornness- NOPE, not thinking about that! Not here.

I've finished my read-through of Link's Thought Brambles and am making a few (very small) edits - mostly typos, but a few places where I think I rushed a little and my wording could have been better/more appropriate to Link's perspective. Very small changes, and almost entirely in the last few chapters.

Then... I start sequel.

I started responding... and then realized it would be WAY too long. So, here I go! I'll have two parts, one about the character himself and one about the sequel (though I can't say too much there without spoilers).

Sir Lyle as a Character

This poor guy. I feel like I beat up on him mercilessly in this story, but it's a consequence of (a) the perspective being utterly and entirely outside his own and in his absence, (b) it being difficult for him to communicate and also difficult for others to fully understand his motivations, and (c) the fact that his actions have served to hinder Link, our main protagonist, whose motivations and feelings we have a clear window on.

I mean, I can guess why we’re going this way considering she asked if I was hungry.

But it’s not what I expected.

Last time I was in the mess, I was a nervous wreck. I couldn’t even look into the room! Eyes on the wall or Zelda’s hair the whole time. And it’s not like I’ve magically made up with all these people. Realistically, I wasn’t friends with them anyway.

…That’s… not true, is it? Greggan’s my friend. Or… something? He tries to help me. A lot. And not just with the usual training stuff. He’s tried to help me with things I get stuck on in my head.

AND to assure you... SEQUEL!!!! YES!! It will start soon. There's a fic I have been meaning to read and I'll start that first, but after that break I'll be back at this.

A lot of the stuff in the sequel is material I already had in my head--it just took 55 chapters to get past the first big arc!!! 😂 I figured 200,000 words was enough for one fic.

The sequel already has a title. Adventure Log+.
