No Expectations
An Ocarina of Time one-shot, Shink, rated T, ~3000 words, whump, hurt/comfort though perhaps not in the usual sense, also on ao3.
Sheik stared down at the Hero of Idiocy.
His entire body was one massive, inflamed bruise, his eyes swollen shut, lips split from repeated impacts. He had at least three broken ribs—and a concussion, obviously. If Sheik hadn’t pulled him out of there, he’d have become yet another skeleton adorning the depths of the ancient Shadow Temple, his bones pounded into the earth by hands too cursed to be seen.
He clearly hadn’t seen it – not until the last minute, when he’d almost run out of fight.
Irritating as his fairy was, she should have screamed louder.

I cheated a bit on this exchange - this coaster design is a prototype (somewhat rejected style) of my actual coaster merch which will be available in my shop soon, so I didn't spend much time planning this gift. I was supposed to send you 6 of these but I ran out of brown clay, and my supplier can't restock them until next month 😅
These coasters are made of polymer clay and resin so they can handle cold or warm drinks (but not boiling hot or it'll melt the coat), and glow in the dark!

He Had Once Been Right
It starts as a flare of light halfway up in the southwestern sky, growing in width and brightness in the span of a second and striking somewhere south of Lake Hylia, and Link knows it’s precious, knows someone will retrieve it and sell it to the old woman in Kakariko for a high price or perhaps in exchange for rare potions—but Link himself does not move from the castle battlement; his place is here, more-than-half-cursed, his triple-pointed helmet a weight at once of remembrance, penance, and bitterness, for his fleeting wish (his selfish, impossible wish) if granted would destroy Hyrule in restoration of his beloved wife.

Link wouldn’t fall asleep—he would not—not with Sheik standing there looking so smug with those red eyes on him; that was definitely a smirk under that mask, and if Link wasn’t such a nice guy he’d have something snarky to say about it after this huge yawn.
“I’m going to win again,” Sheik said with even smirkier eyes—“that’s yawn seventeen and it’s only 3:51 am.”
Link made a face—“How the heck do you know it’s exactly- WHAT?!” Link cried as he watched a stone with a weeping eye rocket itself into the air, Sheik remaining unreasonably calm as it did; Link had to be dreaming (and had therefore already lost), so he shrugged, closed the distance between them, gently tugged that pesky mask down, and kissed Sheik—and got a nasty palm-strike to the chest: “YOU DON’T ASK FIRST?!”

Epilogue: “NO FLIRTING, NO WARNING, NO NOTHING?!” “I thought I was asleep!” “What, you only kiss in your sleep?” “Yes! NO!” “I’ve never had a boyfriend who wouldn’t kiss me while conscious.” “That’s not- wait, what?” “We’re still playing, by the way.”

Happy (belated) holidays, @linksthoughtbrambles! I was your match for this year's Hestu's Gift Exchange!
The request was "A meeting in the afterlife. (Or the spirit realm, or between lives - however you'd like to interpret it!)"
When I saw this prompt, my mind whirred with the concept of OoT Link and Zelda finally reuniting after death, finally being able to play together as children, their spirits finally released from all the trauma and loss of innocence they'd dealt with in life. I always loved the BotW style "spirit aesthetic," so I had fun mixing some of that in with this piece. I hope you enjoy, and that the year to come is kickass for you~
