I uh.... I may have gone too far in a couple places. 0², or 02, or Zero Two, or Zero2, or- well let’s stop there, is the true final boss of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. Miracle Matter is of course the “Final Boss” you fight on Ripple Star, but collecting all the Crystal Shards across the various worlds of the game unlock Dark Star, a planet made of/by the Dark Matters, and is where Kirby and Ribbon face off against the large white bleeding villain that is 0². Revealing It’s true form quickly after presenting itself with the “False Face” form, 0² grows a few extra red appendages and reveals it’s “mouth” to be an eye! There’s a lot of interesting tidbits surrounding 0², like their relation to Zero from Kirby’s Dream Land 3. Are they the same character? Is this an undead Zero? They look similar, and 0² has a halo, so what gives? I’ll stray away from personal theories and say this: 0² is certainly one of the most intimidating of the final Kirby bosses, and 0² doesn’t even have to say anything to do so! Miracle Matter is definitely an interesting design that might surprise the player, but 0² really makes a better impression as the final boss of the game. They also have a really good theme and are fought in a really cool area. Plus Kirby uses a brand new Combo Ability, Ribbon’s Shard Gun! Which, I guess is the combination of the “Ribbon” ability and the “Crystal Shard Gun” ability, which are of course never used on their own. Still a neat idea for a final ability. Anyways with October coming in a few days, I figured getting a bit weird with this drawing and breaking some of my rules would be fun. But we’re not exactly done with 0² yet!
