Mr. Labs is the sole researcher in an expansive research facility named Limulid Laboratories. He practically (and literally) lives there.
The doglets are the side effect of an experiment. They are good-natured and accompany Mr. Labs, helping or "helping" him along the way. They don't harbor ill-intent, but sometimes cause trouble along with the Fish.
The Fish is a mischievous creature of unknown origin. During a particularly stressful month or so in Mr. Labs's life, he would often awake in the night to the sound of something running down the hallway, and the sound of gobbling, like a turkey would. The source of this commotion turned out to be the Fish. After extensive studying in the Fish Observation Chamber, the Fish was deemed a low enough threat to let free.
The Fish stuck around Limulid Laboratories and continues to cause problems for Mr. Labs. He has the joker's spirit, and, as such, often steals and hoards key items from Mr. Labs, namely bricks and screws. Truthfully, Mr. Labs has a degree of affection for the Fish.
