He also reminds me a little bit of the little prince. He probably cares for the MC the way the prince cares for the flower or the fox... it's not even "perhaps", It's a given he began caring for the world and was a lot more intrigued about it after he's met the MC. The same way the MC cares for the world due to the bonds he forms. It's very wholesome if you think about it.
