There are people in my life that are teaching me to not grieve their memory when they finally pass away and I find peace in this and sometimes, a sense of joy.
I’m cleaning my workspace and setting an altar for Deipnon later tonight. I stopped being rigid in altar set up long ago, and really like listening to my intuition and letting my purpose guide me rather use the same formulaic pattern. When you’re working in a Hellenistic context there’s no need for protection measures since the deity or daimon you call on is the protection, so no need for a circle or wards. If I were doing necromancy I’d reconsider that but for a simple ritual to honor a deity, we’re all good. I’m offering eggs, homegrown mugwort, garlic, and fresh water, which I’ll bury tomorrow. I’m also using the Hekate Enodia incense that was in the ritual kits awhile back, and a Hekate taper, of course. It’s all very humble. On Deipnon I never ask for anything though I may offer up things that no longer serve me.
Tomorrow night is Noumenia, a ritual for Selene, and the night after that is Agathos Daimon, an offering to household deities and spirits and I’ll share my set up and plans for both as I put them together.
If you include Hekate in your practice, do you observe Deipnon?
