When Sasuke asked Sakura to marry him, he didn’t anticipate any of this.
"Please, Sasuke-kun? Shaved ice is my favourite food!” Sakura pleaded, head tilted back on the couch and legs on the coffee table.
"Sakura, it’s the middle of winter—" Sasuke sighed, sitting down next to her on the couch.
"I don’t care!" She screeched, "I’m pregnant! I get whatever I want!"
Sasuke inhaled deeply and ignored her. Instead, he rested his head on her chest, his eyes on her growing belly. He pressed a hand against it, feeling the bump. Sakura stopped yelling, pressing her lips in his hair in a sweet kiss.
He had never imagined in a million years that he’d become a father. There was so much darkness around him. It was impossible to see beyond the immediate goal.
Sakura lit everything up, with her roaring voice and insane punches. She softened everything else with her soothing touch and her forgiving nature. When Sasuke signed up for the Academy, he hadn’t known that he would be meeting his future wife, the mother of his child.
Now, he thought, they were everything. If they were to disappear one day, he would too. Sakura fit into his arms like a piece of a puzzle. He hadn’t had such a strong attachment to anyone in such a long time. It was a weird feeling for him, to stare at Sakura while she did the laundry, and feel his heart contract.
When Sasuke asked Sakura to marry him, he hadn’t anticipated how much she would mean to him.
