Pretrans women are the trans women of trans women
I think I get what you are poking at but I would love for you to elaborate?
- not seen as “real (trans) women”
- perceived lack of life experience as a “real (trans) woman”
- practically invisible unless we’re being mocked/bashed
- most mentions of us are very offhand and only there to get us out of the way, even in transfeminist theory
- when we talk about our shitty lives we are told we’re too dramatic, or it doesn’t compare to “real (trans) womanhood” and we should just shut up because we don’t know what it’s like
- womanhood is an unattainable goal and none of our steps towards it satisfy anyone else’s parameters
- fetishized for our proximity to masculinity and misgendered for it (ever wonder why “boymoder” gets thrown around by post-trans girlies making hornyposts?)
- suspiciously absent from a lot of queer spaces or not invited to them at all
- our experience with transmisogyny from the closet is COMPLETELY disregarded
- our problems unique to pretransition / the closet are seen as trivial or a result of “internalized transmisogyny” not actual transmisogyny in real life
- talking about our experiences makes post-trans women uncomfortable
- cannot emphasize enough how little we are talked about by cis or trans people, it is insane
- and many more!!
so yeah. pretrans women are the trans women of trans women
