I think one thing people with a lot of experience with something are hesitant to do is return to basics. I was considering this last night after deciding to learn to write left handed, and it occurred to me that my only brush stroke control practice these days is when drawing comics.

I’m not saying drawing comics isn’t good drawing practice. It absolutely is, but I’ve never really gone back to basics to teach myself to draw or write on a tablet.

So here’s a prototype practice sheet. The idea is to save a copy of it and try to ink the lines as closely as possible. This can be done while zoomed in, zoomed out, whatever. The point is getting a consistent handle on making all of these lines with a tablet.

I’ve already done my practice for today, and it’s clear I needed something like this. I may make more practice sheets in the future. I kinda want to make one specifically for stroke variance practice, but one step at a time.

problem 1: I don't want to use Sunrise and I already switched her for Trance she's lame so far but better than Magikarp was already

yeah the fly thing is a deal breaker for gyarados I don't actually want it on the team for what it is (dragon moves don't get stab and aren't strong against anything but dragon wtf even is that pokemon other than looks cool... and i don't want cool i want cute)

I didn't worry about defog because I favor pokemon who can learn it anyway... I have Heart for Teleport and she has no other moves... btw in Emerald I did exactly that, I caught an Abra and gave it Flash, and later it evolved and finally got some good moves, though my team still sucked thereI'm not planning on having Heart stick around but if I'll be getting a Psychic anyway (for Poison) (still not sure if I actually want that tho)... also defog is one move that you can actually move without. it's less convenient but possible, also you only need it in select caves, not to generally get about, especially with fly

also re: higher levels. In Emerald by higher levels the opponents kind of caught up with me, maybe in part because I started using Repel a lotI didn't catch any pokemon other than who I needed there and I'm planning to here, so that might change that in partbut pointless encounters with wild pokemon get old fastI'd much rather rely on type advantage than level advantage if the latter means boring grind and the former means fun strategy

Of all the dancestors I’ve seen get pretty fair and in-depth evaluations, there’s one I’ve personally yet to come across, and it is, unsurprisingly, Meulin.

This is my opinion and take on her character, plus a bit of speculation. There’s going to be some talk about abusive relationships in here, so be forewarned.

I actually sometimes deliberately go back and edit things so there isn't punctuation&capitalization where there shouldn't be because I go for this style deliberately

but mostly I write properly when I write slowly and thoughtfully and I write tumblr-style when I write fast and just really need to get things out there

but sometimes I will reread what I wrote fast and edit it to proper style and sometimes I will deliberately stylize something very well thought-out to convery emotion

I absolutely adore unusual styles, like text that is formatted like normal prose but when you read it it's actually a poem with all proper rhythm and rhymes, or text formatted in short lines that doesn't actually rhyme at all but kind of reads like poetry anyways

if I can give this impression in my writing...this is so. super. cool.
