so ive finally said 'fuck it' and downloaded a miraculous ep in french from youtube. its small but good, still good (THANK YOU @miraculousfrench FOR THE SUBS)
I'm not ALL THAT GOOD at french, but I can understand most of the dialogue and the rest of it can MOSTLY be fixed by looking up a new word in the dictionary
so what I'm watching is Chronogirl and what's happening is the following: Adrien: *catches the watch* Marinette: "Tu es fantastique!" *stares at him longingly* Adrien: "ueeee?" *very confused face* Marinette: "...ment fiable! Fantastiquement fiable!"
ADRIEN HOW OBLIVIOUS IS YOUR ASS
this line business at the spring doesn't make any fucking sense because unless you are in a video game with fixed camera angle it's super easy to tell a one-dismensional object from two-dismensional
like, basic head movements while standing in one place are enough to determine if there's any more to be seen from above and/or below or if it's actually just a line
not to mention walking around it and looking if it's a straight line or a circle
this anime cheats and ???
HELP I'M CRYING SHE'S PERFECT I JUST PUNCHED A TOMATO AND I AM JUST IN PERFECT SYNCH WITH UNDYNE RIGHT NOW TBH
Tara’s death is suicide. It’s used to talk about suicide, very directly, shoving-it-in-your-face tied to current actual real life events.
Tara’s death is not a metaphor for anything other than many other deaths.
In the narrative, it joins the long string of THAT’S RIGHT OTHER DEATHS. It’s not separate. It’s not “they all died from being gods but Tara Died From World Being Unfair”. Tara is ANOTHER ONE KILLED BY ANANKE. It’s a tragedy in a string of other, equal, equivalent tragedies.
How narratively tone deaf do you have to be to miss this
The whole “you have to earn a living” rhetoric is really toxic. Have we considered that maybe, in 2015, basic needs like housing, food, and medicine don’t really need to be “earned” but should, in any reasonably industrialized country, be guaranteed?
Oh my god, you spoiled little shits…
“What if people didn’t die because they are poor?”
“OMG you’re so spoiled!!!”
????
Food has to be grown. People have to grow food. People spend their entire lives making sure other people have enough food to eat. These people shouldn’t be reimbursed (paid) for their time and effort?
Medicine has to be developed. People have to administer medicine. To administer medicine and not accidentally kill others, people need to be experts in this field. To be experts in this field, people need to get an education in medicine and dedicate their lives to making sure people can have proper medical treatment. These people shouldn’t be reimbursed (paid) for their time and effort?
Houses need to be built. People need to build houses. In order to build safe, reliable houses, people need to be experts in this field. To be experts in this field, people need to get an education in architecture or contracting and dedicate their lives to making sure people have proper housing available. These people shouldn’t be reimbursed (paid) for their time and effort?
I get what you’re trying to say, I really do, but this train of thinking is naive and harmful. You want to have food readily available for you, good medical treatment available for you, reliable housing available for you…”but this should all be free for me. Fuck the people who make it possible. They don’t deserve to receive anything for helping me live comfortably.”
When you’re ready and able to grow and make your OWN food, provide your OWN medical treatment, and build your OWN house, then we can talk about these things being free. Until then, remember all the people working hard day and night to make sure you have bread and tylonal and walls, and stop disrespecting their dedicating and sacrifice. smh
No one said people shouldn’t be paid for working?!
All that was said was that the BASICS needed for BASIC SURVIVAL should be guaranteed. Not that the people who are working shouldn’t be paid.
And yes- there is a way for that to happen.
Okay, that all makes sense
But who’s paying for this basic income?
Because if we’re talking about the US, our government is already drastically in debt. They’re not paying for it. Their money - especially for social programs such as this would be - comes from us, their citizens, paying taxes. One way or another, if we’re living in a fair and legal society (which we are) you are paying for these things, whether it’s through taxes or personal exchange.
Food, medicine, and housing have to come from somewhere. You can’t guarantee food to someone without guaranteeing some form of reimbursement to the people who grew and provided it. You can’t guarantee reimbursement without having the means to do so. It’s a horrible circular whirlpool of capitalistic crap that’s too late to change.
It really, really is a great idea - it’s just an impractical one.
Many sources of funding have been suggested for a guaranteed minimum income for capitalist economic systems:
Negative income tax Income taxes Income tax threshold Sales taxes Capital gains taxes Financial transaction tax Inheritance taxes Wealth taxes, e.g. property tax Luxury taxes Elimination of current income support programs and tax deductions Repayment of the grant at death or retirement Land and natural resource taxes (Georgism) Pollution taxes Fees from government-created monopolies (such as the broadcast spectrum and utilities) Tariffs, the lottery, or sin taxes Technology taxes Value added tax or other Consumption taxes
And more! The affordability of a basic income proposal relies on many factors such as the costs of any public services it replaces, tax increases required, and less tangible auxiliary effects on government revenue and/or spending. For example a successful basic income scheme may reduce crime, thereby reducing required expenditure on policing and justice. The need for a food stamps program would no longer exist, as all families would have enough to cover food. The need to fund as many homeless shelters would decrease, because long term homelessness would not be an issue. etc.In fact, some economists theory that a Basic Income system could be cheaper than current welfare systems under the right circumstances. AND studies suggest that systems like this IMPROVE economic activity and LOWER inflation.A study of a pilot project implemented in 2008 and 2009 in the Namibian village of Omitarafound that economic activity actually increased, particularly through the launch of small businesses, and reinforcement of the local market by increasing households’ buying power.[source]
In studies of the Mincome experiment in rural Dauphin, Manitoba in the 1970s, the only two groups who worked significantly less were new mothers, and teenagers working to support their families. New mothers spent this time with their infant children, and working teenagers put significant additional time into their schooling.[source] A final report was never issued, but Manitoban economist Evelyn Forget conducted an analysis of the program in 2009 which was published in 2011.[source][source] In addition, those who continued to work were given more opportunities to choose what type of work they did. Forget found that in the period that Mincome was administered, hospital visits dropped 8.5 percent, with fewer incidents of work-related injuries, and fewer emergency room visits from car accidents and domestic abuse.[source]Additionally, the period saw a reduction in rates of psychiatric hospitalization, and in the number of mental illness-related consultations with health professionals.[source][source]
“In 1982, Alaska began providing a partial basic income annually to all its residents. Until the first dividend, Alaska had a higher rate of inflation than the rest of the United States. But ever since the dividend was introduced, Alaska has had a lower rate of inflation than the rest of the United States. A partial basic income was also provided in Kuwait in 2011, when every citizen was given $4,000. Fears of increasing inflation were rampant, as Kuwait already had high inflation. Instead of bad inflation getting worse, it actually got better, decreasing from record highs to under 4 percent.” [source]
So, ya know. There’s all that.
So you’re saying that if your family is fortunate enough to make a decent living, you should be taxed to death. If your grandma left you money for your college education when she died, that should be taxed because you’ve inherited it?
Here’s a novel thought for you…
How about YOU go out and WORK for what you want???
I worked three jobs for years for what I have.
There ARE jobs out there…they may not pay you what YOU think you’re worth, but there ARE jobs.
But you people that say there aren’t any jobs are the first ones to say “janitor position? That’s beneath me! Housekeeper? Waitress? That’s beneath me! You say I gotta work my way up from an entry level position? That’s not fair! You say I gotta study so I can graduate??? I don’t have to study. You gotta make the tests easier for me.
“McDonalds better pay me $15 a hour (sic) oh no! I’m makin’ $15 a hour an’ workin’ 20 hours a week! Govmint say I be makin’ too much money! Yo boss man! You gotta cut my hours so I can still get my food stamps!” – an actual quote made by a friend’s co-worker when they started paying her $15/he to work at McDonald’s. She wanted her hours cut because she didn’t qualify for welfare anymore!
If you want a “universal utopian” society, move to a communist country. Then see how wonderful it is!
I AM saying that people should pay for what they WANT.
However, I think that the BASIC NECESSITIES that humans need for BARE MINIMUM FOR SURVIVAL should be guaranteed. People shouldn’t die for being poor.
That nice new video game you’ve been wanting? Pay for that. The next book the the series you love? Pay for that. A kick ass moped? Pay for that. But like, basic food and shelter? That should be something that everyone has access to no matter what.
A basic income system would benefit everyone. As I said with those sources I posted before- when basic income has been tried, it was shown to be affordable, it lowered inflation, hospital visitation, and increased economic activity. It seems self evident that if we help everyone do better, everyone does better.
If “poor people don’t die for being poor” is UTOPIAN, the sure- I’m aiming for the stars. Build me a damn rocket. But it really doesn’t seem that revolutionary.
If your grandma left you money for your college education when she died, that should be taxed because you’ve inherited it?
Here’s a novel thought for you…
How about YOU go out and WORK for what you want???
oh my god????
how un self aware of your own logic you have to b e
"how about YOU go out and WORK for what you want, while my inherited fortune shouldn't even be TAXED"

Debunking SJW logic in one post, quick and easy: SJWs are behind the belief that we should only/mainly focus on aiding the egos of people with less “privilege”.
This is a complete waste of time though, because in the end the only reason a…
Except the change you’re referring to HAS taken place. Blacks are no longer slaves and have all the rights that white men have. Women can vote and have all the rights that men have.
You talk like there’s so much more progress to be made but in reality there isn’t. We already have equal rights. “Change” from third-wave feminism concerns special rights and all traits being viewed the exact same way whether or not they’re even similar.
Debunking SJW logic in one post, quick and easy: SJWs are behind the belief that we should only/mainly focus on aiding the egos of people with less “privilege”.
This is a complete waste of time though, because in the end the only reason a person would do this is so everybody could be seen EXACTLY the same, or close to exactly the same.
However, we are NOT exactly the same. We are DIFFERENT.
Basically, SJWs want to ignore the complaints and problems of “privileged” people and only focus on the issues that lesser “privileged” people have.
However, racism, sexism, societal dislike of getting too fat, etc, will ALWAYS EXIST.
Therefore, if SJWs don’t snap out of it and stop only focusing on the problems which lesser “privileged” groups face, they will never be satisfied.
They’re running a fool’s errand. Their goal is impossible to reach. They will always be dissatisfied with how the world is because it won’t get much better than it is now.
The mass majority of issues SJWs bring up are first world problems and non-issues like “microaggressions” which stem from the belief that everyone should be seen the exact same way and that stereotypes should be abolished, regardless of how valid they may be. Hence why you’ll notice that most of the time, their issues narrow down to “sexism/racism exists” or “rape happens”. Duh. Of course it exists. Of course it happens. *And it always will*, no matter how much we slowly trickle away at it. Eventually, we hit bedrock and can’t dig anymore, and we’re basically at that point.
So…your argument is that we…shouldn’t care about racism, sexism, or sexual assault because…”it happens.”
Wow.
Here’s what I think: Fuck that. Fuck that complacency in the suffering of others. Fuck that complacency in a system that benefits some to the detriment of others. Fuck this idea that it’s okay and even natural for oppression and sexual violence to exist.
Why on Earth should we be ok with these things, or believe that they are immutable? What evidence do you have that these things must always exist?
Sorry that you’re happy with the shitty state of the world, but not all of us are. So go ahead. Be angry that there are people in the world who actually believe that racism and sexism shouldn’t exist. I hope that works out for you.
What the. What the fuck. Is OP really saying "we can't change anything" as a motivation for stopping the battle for change? 'cos so far in the history I can't think of one thing that proved this true. Slavery is no more, women can own property, vote and get education. Same-sex marriage is legal in many places. More and more books&movies&webcomics&other entertainment become diverse and inclusive.
I mean. Change is happening. Right now. By which I mean right the fuck now in our days. Things change. My own life has been changed for the best this year by the SJWs thanks for aro ace awareness activity.
This is just. Of all possible arguments to be made against SJWs, this one is. Is. I don't even know what to say? the most self-defeating
