i am not the anon that asked about lords and muses, but i am also curious about the subject, and i'm wondering what the personality traits of a lord or muse would be? so that a person who wanted to know their own title would be able to see if they are a lord/muse. From my own understanding, lords and muses are very influential towards those of their own aspect (or just people in general). lords being determined and dominating, while muses are merely inspiring.
Well just going from Calliope/Caliborn and what I think the Master Classes shared verb is, Define, here are some scattered thoughts about Lords and Muses I had in other posts lol
Both Muses and Lords in Homestuck share this theme of using others to do their will. A Lord merely having servants that do whatever they want (like leprechauns and all of Lord English’s bitches, The handmaid, doc scratch etc) and Muse inspiring the idea of what she wants to happen using the people she is inspiring (notice Calliope’s peculiar ability to insert herself or her trollsona into the story somewhat through her fanfiction, unbeknownst to the characters of homestuck though, but which is also implied to affect it in a way).
So a Lord has the personality type to have servants that do whatever he wants without himself having to lift a finger and a Muse has the personality type to want to inspire and share with others her own thoughts and ideas. A Lord wants to stake a claim to his territory and put a wall around it and a Muse wants to open up her gates and share hers.
Another cool thing I noticed is that the words Lord and Muse are also verbs:
To “Muse” is to be absorbed in one’s thoughts; A state of meditation. To gaze meditatively thoughtfully or wonderingly and is a guiding spirit or a source of inspiration. Muses (in Greek mythology) cause thought, ideas and inspiration in others, but they still control what it is they inspire in others. Thus, they invite Definition of what their Aspect is or means through other people. A Muse of Space allows others to Define Space as she does.
Lords are more straightforward. To “Lord” is to behave arrogantly or imperiously. A state of frustration. It is a person who has authority, control, or power over others. A person who is a leader or has great influence and mastery in a profession. Lords control not just themselves, but others as well, they have full control over their domain. So a Lord has the power to Define what their Aspect is or means. A Lord of Time Defines Time for himself and for everyone else.
So I think in terms of personality, Lords would be Arrogant, Imperious, Dominating, Wanting their own way all the time, Wanting total control over what is theirs, not letting anybody else join them or share what they have. They have the instinct to Lead, but not all Lords are awful, immature Lords like Caliborn (and Joffrey from Game of Thrones) and a mature, goodwilled Lord will hold authority and learn to Lead with dignity and grace.
Muses are the total opposite, they are Selfless, Encouraging, Humble, they just understand that they won’t have their way all the time and they accept that not everything is within their power to control, but still they want to try, and they really just want to share their world and themselves with others, they will open up and let you in at a moment’s notice. They don’t necessarily have the natural instinct to follow or serve per se, but they will Raise Up others over themselves, because they want to help you to the top, rather than be at the top, like a Lord.
A guess a good word for Lords too would be Ambitious.
1. Yellow worlds on black background is not a good design oh god my eyes my poor eyes (at least dashboard shows followed posts in generic design...) 2.
