Well, before 2016 is over, I wanted to post the Vocaloid related stuff I got during the later part of the year.  I was going to post these earlier, but with the holidays and being sick I haven’t had the time. Plus, I wanted to wait till I got all 3 before posting.

Anyways, the top are the rewards from the VOCAMERICA kickstarter! In addition to all pictured, I also got the digital download of the soundtrack, which I absolutely love. And cuase we hit the stretch goals, we got a bunch of extra keychains (originally just 2, haha). The keychains are all really nice, though I’ll probably convert them into pins or something as I rarely have use for keychains, especially this many. I’d like to frame the print somehow too, but its a bit of an odd size.

I also got myself the Racing Miku 2015 figure, and a KAITO Nendoroid, both of which I’ve had my eye on for a while waiting for a price drop. Racing Miku designs are kind of hit or miss for me, but I really love this outfit. I’d love to do a cosplay of it... eventually. And I was really happy to get the KAITO nendoroid for a reasonable price, as Nendos are usually $40+ which is way out of my price range for what they are. I got him for about half that, and as far as I can tell its authentic. Even if not, he’s still cute anyways XD

Knockoff Vocaloid repaints!

I got these guys specifically to repaint as a fun side project to work on between all my other hobbies. I got them cheap off of ebay, listed as the China version of the Vocaloid Petits. At least they were upfront about it, lol. The repainting took a few months of sporadic work, but they’re all finally done.

Each is pictured next to my factory seconds of actual Nendoroid petits and the very bottom image is how the knockoffs originally came. Most were just meh, but some were pretty badly painted, while a few are just flat out bad sculpts. The worst of the batch is the original Miku, while the best was the other Miku (Rolling girl ver. I think?). All I did for that one was touch up the black, and repaint the hair.  For the blonde Meiko I added some gloves as made some simple changes with paint, as I really just didn’t like her sculpt and it needed a change of some kind. The most different is Neru, because I didn’t want to paint another black/yellow Vocaloid. I wasn’t going for anything in specific with her, just playing around with colors until I got something I liked. I do wish I knew how to make something different for her to hold other than a phone though, haha.  As for the others, the main thing was correcting color and painting in details.

Overall, this was fun and challenging project that really tested my detail painting skills. I’m happy with the results, and now they have their place on my shelf next to the real Vocaloid Petits.

Hatsune Miku- Dapper Day Fall outing 2016

Last weekend, I went to Dapper day at disneyland as Miku! I absolutely love wearing this outfit, its my favorite easy wear cosplay. However, the wg gave me some trouble this time round as I had to replace one of the clips in the ponytails. It wasn’t perfect and by the end of the day it started to hurt, but it worked and held up surprisingly well (even on a few rides!). I’m still looking for a better replacement clip though. Anyways, many recognized me and asked for photos, especially since this time I had the full wig (though with it I got mistaken for Arcade Sona, haha). I got so many compliments on this outfit too! The day was an absolute blast and I can’t wait for next Dapper day!  I’d like to do something new for next time, perhaps a fancy version of Teto?

Halloween KAITO and Miku Hatsune!

KAITO as a demon and Miku as a monster of the forest. I’ve still got like 2 hours left on Halloween, so I’ll just post these now, even though Miku isn’t really done. Unfortunately I didn’t have as much time with cosplay, school and conventions, but I’m pretty pleased with what I was able to get done.  I was able to get almost 6 Halloween themed sketches done this year, which is really good for me (and all human shaped too!)  I originally was aiming for 6 of the Vocaloid, but maybe next year. I’d still like to finish Miku, as I’m really liking the idea I had for her, even if the execution is a bit wonky. For the life of me I cannot get things to be symmetrical, even worse than I normally am.  (I’m always bad at that, though rushing may have had a factor in this too). Regardless, they were all enjoyable to do and I’m proud of them all despite their mistakes.

Got the first sketch for my Vocaloid Halloween series done! I was originally going to have MEIKO dressed as death/ the grim reaper, but it just wasn’t working out. So, I decided to make her a witch! I’m very pleased with how it came out. I’ll try to add in more detail when I do an inked version. But for now this sketch is done and I’m satisfied with the design. 1/6 down, next up is KAITO!

Anime Expo day 3- Vocaloid: Miku Hatsune (50s dress)

Check out my Cosplay page on Facebook!

I was originally going to wear Celica for Sunday, but after the bad time we had on Saturday I decided it wasn’t worth it. Instead I decided to go with my Miku cosplay since there was a Vocaloid meet that day anyways. Unfortunately all I had was a phone camera (that later crapped out on me) so these aren’t as nice as ones before. But, I’m just thankful they aren’t a blurry mess, like many of them ended up being. Luckily Sunday was so much better than Saturday was, so I’ll be heading back to AX next year! Sunday was actually enjoyable, with a good amount of cosplayers too. Still very crowded, but not to the point Saturday was, so it was tolerable and not at all stressful. Too bad Saturday wasn’t like that. I hope they improve things for next year, such as better organization, better layout, and especially better communication (especially with your attendees).

Got some really cheap nendoroid petite knockoffs that I plan to paint. I always thought it would be fun to try and paint some, so when I saw these knockoffs for way cheaper than any official ones, I decided why not. Honestly, these aren’t bad at all. Not the best quality with some seams and excess, but the sculpts are still pretty nice. Paint isn’t the worst I’ve seen either, especially the faces. I’ll probably avoid painting the faces if I can and just leaving them be. These actually are nicer in some ways that the (what I believe to be) factory seconds I got of official nendoroid petits (which love to fall apart and have some very visible issues). Anyways painting these is one of my projects for this summer break, in addition to cosplay. Not the best at painting so it should be quite the experiment XD

Wondercon 2016- Hatsune Miku

This cosplay is a lot of fun to wear, especially since its really comfortable, without the heels I’d normally wear with it that is. I do still need some plain black shoes to wear in cases like these where heels are out of the question, as well as a fluffier petticoat. I brought this along as a cosplay I could change into after wearing Liger Zero. Its one of my favorite easy wear cosplays I’ve made, and one I plan to take to Disneyland for Dapper Day (though, I might not war the ponytails XD ).

And I found an Inkling Miku! I loved her cosplay!  Such a cute idea. I considered doing one myself when I was deciding an ink color for my own inkling XD

Inkling Miku is Stawberry_Seal on instagram!

Here is the figure I got, what the seller called After Dark Miku. But I still can't find if that is what it is actually called or not. ( the box does not appear to give the outfit a name).  But it is a really nice figure, nicely painted with hardly noticeable seams. And what seams there are, look like the seams of her clothing. It is a surprisingly heavy figure too XD

Overall very pleased with it. Glad I went with this one.

Back from Long Beach Comic Expo! I’ll get around to posting pictures soon, but for now have these of me with the figure I bought! The seller called it After Dark Miku, though I can’t find an actual name on the box.

As for the convention, it was a lot of fun! Saturday I went as Colette. That was the cosplay I competed in the contest with. Unfortunately, while walking around the floor I turned around a little too fast and bumped into Alex, snapping a piece off. My dad says it was probably a bad solder, as it otherwise should have just bent. Long story short, I have to completely tear off the cellophane and EL wire to fix the frame. Which, tbh I guess gives me an excuse to redo it, as I know I can make it better. But now, what color of EL wire should I go with??

Sunday I almost didn’t go, but I’m so glad I did. I went as 50s style Miku. I lasted in the heels I had for about 2 hours, and then had to switch to the much more comfortable shoes above. Though, I don’t think the heels helped with my knee, which was really painful with walking. Not at all sure what I did to it, and it still hurts especially when walking down stairs. Anyways, I was surprised at how much attention I got, as I thought I would only get one or two photos. Made me feel pretty good about the dress that gave me so much trouble. Now I just need to get a nice and fluffy petticoat as the one we made kind of fell short.  Also not sure on the makeup. Personally, I don;t think it all worked together, mainly the eye shadow. I used the same blue I did for Snow Miku over the purple I have. I don’t know what it was about it, it just didn’t look good to me.  But maybe its simply that I have no idea how to put on makeup.

Now that LBCE is over, its time to really start working on my cosplays for Wondercon. If all goes well, I’ll have both my Inkling + Gold Dynamo Roller done, as well as Celica.

KAITO Sketch for his 10th anniversary!

I finally finished the sketch! Pretty messy, and for some reason some parts show up darker than they really are when they were scanned, but I’m so happy with it! The only thing I really dislike about it is the head. After fooling with it a bit I just kinda gave up and focused on everything else. But I’m glad I finally found a use for this pose. It was really enjoyable to draw! Its based off of nothing in particular, but I love angels and things with wings, so why not? (Also its rather late, but there is still an hour before the 18th here, so I can still say I posted this for his anniversary, lol )

Anyways, I’ll probably try my hand at inking this traditionally, and if I feel up to it digitally as I would love to color it. Not too many sketches become anything more, but I’m really proud of this one, definitely the best human I have ever drawn.

Valentine’s day? More like my favorite Vocaloid’s birthday! (one of them at least, haha). I never know whether to celebrate it on the 14th or the 17th though. Well, if the picture I’m working on turns out well, and is done by then I’ll post it for his birthday too. But for now, this little doodle will have to do.

Happy birthday KAITO! Can’t believe he’s 10 already.
