Heading off to a New Year's Eve celebration with friends. Here's a secret: NYE is my favorite holiday. I love the ritual of the old year ending as a new year begins: a time to reflect if you want it, to wipe the slate clean if you want it, to spend an evening with friends looking forward to a new year and new possibilities. 2013 was a weird year in many ways, and not one I'm sorry to see go. But I am glad for another year of Tumblr and of all of you. Happy 2014 and best wishes to all!!!!
More photos from second Thanksgiving! Deep fried turkey, latke course, table of goodies, plate of goodies, pumpkin trifle (half-eaten, so good), after dinner fire. Not pictured: eggnog, Cards Against Humanity (which I'd never played before), many other delicious desserts, and much laughter and good company. :) Second Thanksgiving has become one of my favorite traditions, and I really hope it continues.
“Every month the PGA Golf Management program at Campbell University has a competition between the different classes. The January competition was to see how many people could line up and make a putt at the same time. The winners this month was the Senior Class with nine people!” ~ Video description
There’s an animated gif of this going around, but it cuts off before you get to see them celebrate. Here’s the original video!
Egg dyeing party! Googly eyes make everything better.
Back from my (a few days in advance) birthday dinner! Great Italian food, two glasses of delicious prosecco, and dessert at one of my favorite North Beach cafes, all with a gang of good friends. I call that an auspicious kickoff to birthday week.
Home. The evening was lovely, I have way too many leftover sweets, and now I'm taking a glass of water (to counteract eggnog and champagne) before I head for bed. I hope you are all having a wonderful first few hours of 2013. <3
Taking off soon, a pile of baked goods in hand, for a New Year's Eve fondue party. :) Food and friends, my favorite way to ring in the new.
My fondest hope is that 2013 dawns clear and bright for all of you, and that the empty slate fills with only the best of things. Thank you all for sticking with me through a wild 2012, and making it a good year despite all the ups and downs. See you on the other side!
Some of you may be familiar with the website IsItChristmas.com. There is also an app. So, in case you were wondering, now you know. :) Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!(Or, if it's already over in your time zone, I hope you had a great day.) And a very happy Tuesday to all.
Now I am in a food coma, hanging out in front of a fire, sitting next to several other folks also on smart phones. Ah, modern social gatherings.
