actors love to make their characters subtextually gay not just because they’re a little gay themselves though that often is the case but rather because having a secret is like energy drink to acting, and being gay is the easiest most obvious secret. whenever you’re unsure of your character’s motivations consider: maybe they are gay? see where that takes you. should be pretty far

And then we have Andrew Robinson who, when given a character full of secrets decided on day one that he'll make one thing fucking obvious, and that was that Garak is gay.

I really enjoy those shots in tos where Kirk and Spock look like a gay couple judging people

[ID: 6 screencaps from star trek: the original series, showing Kirk and Spock side by side, either looking at something off-screen or each other. Their expressions are mostly skeptical, concerned, or confused. /end ID]

This is just the whole show

[ID: three more screencaps fitting the above description. /end ID]

Just all the time. They look like they hate your decor. They look like they're telepathically gossiping about how you're fucking a married man. They look like you just asked them "who's the woman"

This is Odo's ONLY SCENE in S2E7, Rules of Acquisition.

In his entire 51 seconds in this episode, Odo:

  • almost immediately asks when Quark is coming back
  • rapidly descends into a weirdly intense jealousy/revenge fantasy right in front of our salad when he imagines someone coming between him and Quark a hypothetical brother
  • looks all caught off guard about it a second later when he realizes somebody Saw That

I think this scene was intended to show that Odo is trying to plant a seed in Rom's mind to sabotage Quark, but... nah, bruh, this bitch is pining

Star Trek captains ranked by how likely they would be to have sex with their ship from least to most likely:

  • Pike/Enterprise: Pike does not strike me as the type of person who would be interested in that sort of thing. With a ship, I mean.
  • Archer/Enterprise: The only way I can picture this happening is if the Enterprise was magically turned into an actual humanoid woman like the TARDIS in the Doctor Who episode The Doctor’s Wife. Otherwise, no. (I’m still on season 2 of Enterprise though so maybe there’s information in later seasons that would change my mind.)
  • Burnham/Discovery: Look, Burnham and Zora like each other, but not that way. Probably.
  • Picard/Enterprise: I don’t really like this concept because their relationship just feels so inherently platonic, but I must admit it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility.
  • Sisko/Defiant: I think this is more of a chaste longing type of situation but who knows.
  • Freeman/Cerritos: The Cerritos is a handsome lady.
  • Janeway/Voyager: Janeway is undeniably in love with Voyager, I think, but the real question is whether she’d put aside her personal hang-ups about sexual relationships here. And you know what, for Voyager, I think she could.
  • Kirk/Enterprise: I mean, this is the obvious top choice. If there is a way to have sex with the Enterprise, Kirk will have found it.

Sisko loves the Defiant like a child. It is his baby.

If the Defiant became sentient, he would teach it how to play baseball. Somehow.

Star Trek TOS: *Stablishes that the touching of hands is incredibly intimate in Vulcan culture akin to fully making out.*
Star Trek TOS: *shows us Spock holding Jim's hand while talking about the importance of his feelings.*
The fandom: *reads it as romantic.*
The writers: oh my god, that's crazy, where did you get that from?
Star Trek DS9: *Stablishes that, in cardassian culture, flirtation is done by arguing and bickering, that is how they show interest in another person.*
Star Trek DS9: *Constantly shows Garak and Bashir arguing and bickering, including a scene where Julian shoots at him and everything.*
The fandom: *reads it as romantic.*
The writers: OH MY GOD, THAT'S CRAZY, WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?
