In the spirit of discussing drug use recently, I thought I’d share this little review I’d done about a month ago after experimenting with Modafinil.
Opinion on how substance abuse influences people and society?
Substance abuse is the product of a conditioned dependency, a state of perpetual escapism, typically motivated via the desire to relieve oneself of the constant anxiety of living in a state of fight or flight within our generally unforgiving, hyperactive society; however, this “coping mechanism” only perpetuates one’s suffering in the resulting degeneration of physical health and cognitive function, ironically rendering people literally prioritizing their self-destruction as an essential component to their well being.
We are both culturally and institutionally encouraged to prioritize habits that mask our symptoms so that we may carry on with the oppressive routines that we unconsciously consent to, rather than recognizing pain as an indication to make change in some area of our life. We should be harnessing the fear of prolonged suffering, as inspiration to secure more desirable circumstances.
We need to discipline ourselves to consume with caution. If we do not master our compulsions, we are at the mercy of corporate strategists campaigning illusory salvation, like sirens luring us to shipwreck, they seek to capitalize on our unfulfillment and lack of willpower. We need to truly consider our competence and actually take initiative to empower ourselves before assuming our inadequacies and yielding to our consumer-escapist conditioning.
views on drugs?
I would heavily suggest staying away from alcohol and the various opiates making up the spectrum of painkillers due to the crippling dependency that easily develops, and the resulting physical and mental degeneration.
Stimulants, although seemingly useful initially, inevitably require some measure of compensation for the energy imbalance they create, which is why we “crash” and often feel more confused and depressed than prior to consuming them. Long-term instability like this will spike stress/anxiety and incur a state of constant “fight or flight”, compromising threat assessment, hindering sleep quality, and potentially causing a state of debilitating adrenal fatigue.
It should also be noted that stimulants like caffeine and Adderall are often consumed to enhance not only energy, but focus as well; however, this enhanced focus is often at the expense of one’s creativity. What is focus worth then, when one is no longer capable of contributing anything innovative?
Psychedelics, although far from necessary, can be utilized as conveniences to disestablishing conditioned behavior and irrational perspectives; it should be noted as well though, that rampant abuse of them can potentially render one’s cognition in such a consistent state of flux that they’re practically catatonic.
I would suggest that strategy and moderation are key; any drug use should be utilized to promote initiative and enhance perception/connection with Reality, not as an anxiety based, compulsive method of escapism. This discipline highlights the thin line between self-empowerment and self-destruction.

What effects do you think substance abuse has on the individual/society?
Substance abuse is the product of a conditioned dependency, a state of perpetual escapism, resistance to the pain of circumstance, avoidance of the inevitable risk in living authentically; ironically rendering one prioritizing their self destruction as an essential component to their well being.

How can I overcome marijuana addiction? I feel like I shouldn't need something like this, especially when my life's not that bad compared to people who have it worse in other countries. It's only made my depression and anxiety worse, but I fear I might go to more unhealthy outlets if I stop.
The suffering of others does not invalidate your own, yours is simply implemented more subtly. You, like all of us living in modern civilization, have been subjected to probably more than a decade of fear based cultural conditioning in oppressive institutions feigning empowerment; leaving you feeling trapped in a labyrinth of anxiety and repression.
Utilize those same compulsions that prompt immersion in escapism, whether that be substance abuse or general distractions, as motivation for self empowerment; regardless of preconceived notions of your limitations. You are not merely a slave destined to cope with submission, learn this within the direct experience of your initiative to make change.
Create a list of desired accomplishments, challenge yourself, challenge others, work out, refine your diet, etc. You want to strategically organize a lifestyle that acts as friction against any oppressive circumstances. Remain patient during this process, it will manifest in subtle increments, as you and others acclimate to the changes you’re invoking.

**Legality, not only in terms of drug use, is a labyrinth of power plays enacted by a privileged aristocracy of tyrants, rather than some kind of benevolent moral code. This awareness should compel strategized transcendence rather than obedience.
I see you advise to act in accordance with ones authentic self while socializing, in contrast to masking ones personality. But now, what about a psychopath? Such behavior poses no benefit, for either party usually.
The intentions of those with mental disorders will remain regardless of their social persona or lack thereof, authenticity simply entails directness, rather than the self mutilation of repression and fear based adherence to anti-communicative social etiquette, thus the inevitable scenario will commence as soon as it should.
On a side note, mental disorders are essentially mental functions that deviate from normal psychological function, classified as “disorders” because they are an inconvenience to societal operations, as well as massive profit for pharmaceutical giants, rather than something that individuals themselves are necessarily suffering from.
Psychopathy is actually debated as an evolutionary trait, in that lacking empathy would obviously compel a firmer initiative to preserve oneself and will one’s desired circumstances.
The irony of condemning those exhibiting antisocial personality symptoms, is that this disapproval stems from personal insecurity, routed in the selfish motive to justify the oppression of someone seen as a threat, which is obviously no more benevolent than those they disapprove of, it is simply done so in a way that allows those conforming to the asserted social standard to preserve their illusory ideals.
What are your thoughts about attention dissorders, and the drugs that are prescribed to treat them? I love your blog by the way.
The vast majority of these diagnosed attention disorders are nothing more than the product of a hyperactive pattern recognition, and the resulting neurosis of being overwhelmed by this advanced cognition, which actually holds great potential to be harnessed constructively upon familiarizing oneself with this internal process and cultivating discipline.
It is often within the institutionalized schooling environment that these “disorders” are suggested, simply via the child’s innate discontent with being confined to a desk for 6-7 hours a day. Lacking the desire to squander the energy of youth memorizing and regurgitating information for 12 years, is no measure of psychological illness so much as it is the measure of a healthy noncompliance with authority. Children don’t need drugs because their independence is inconvenient to the operation of the system.
I’m not saying that these disorders do not exist, but that their presence is grossly exaggerated for the sake of maintaining our status quo. We must remain skeptical of the pharmaceutical industry and doctors who may not necessarily have our best interests in mind, unless it’s an emergency and we have no other options. We should seek to minimize faith in the intentions of others in general, especially when it’s relevant to our health.
