I’m annoyed by her as well dear anon. But not because of what she has done.

I just don’t like getting new characters forced into my face in a story that’s already highly developed and offered many individual and amazing characters by that point. The fact that she killed off Sasha will always make me dislike her, but from her point of view, it was justified and reasonable tbh.

Since the Marley ark, we’ve been introduced to the point of view from the opponents of the main cast that we’ve already attached to over the past few years. Disliking/ hating the people that caused harm to the ones who’s emotions, dreams, desires, breakdowns and developments we’ve witnessed for YEARS is completely normal. Hating on Gabi ever since she killed Sasha IS normal and was definitely foreseen by Isayama. He knew that Sasha was a beloved character and whoever will be responsible for her death won’t become a fan favorite.

So why keeping her alive?

I think the main reason why she’s still alive is because Isayama uses her as a way to tell the story from another perspective, because just like in any other war, there are at least two sides with different ways of experiencing it. People on both sides think that they’re in the right and have their own reasons for their actions.

And with Gabi we witness a development right from the start. We see what caused her to kill Sasha and how she’s dealing with the consequences.

On a personal note, I was a big fan of Mikasas reaction when Sasha’s sister tried to stab Gabi. It was a beautiful scene, even though I somewhat wanted Kaya to get her revenge, I was glad that Gabi experienced protection from someone she got told was a devil. This scene in particular was extremely important for underlining how both rivaling sides pursue happiness and life and how hurt everyone who’s been affected by the attack on Marley along with its consequences is. This includes both, main cast and Gabi in particular.

Gabi is an important character to portray how the rivaling side of our beloved main cast fears the same things, goes through a similar sort of pain and how this dispute between Paradis and Marley only causes bad things on both sides.

I personally think that this much attention towards her isn’t necessary. At least this far, I completely agree with you that it’s annoying how much focus is on her instead of the people the majority of the fandom ACTUALLY cares about (Levi, Hanji, Jean, Connie, man even Pixis).

Like we get it Yams, war makes people do horrible things, but you can’t tell me that a kid ( how old is she again, 12?) can manage to go through so many realizations, afflauts in such a short time and, the worst one, 360 no scope one shot someone’s head off with a rifle that’s as long as she’s tall....the recall would’ve caused her do make three backflips and dislocated her shoulders lol.

Imo, she wasn’t that much of a necessary character to convey the message that I stated above. As I said, it feels like she’s being forced upon us for a purpose that could’ve been handled differently and less annoying. I’m not a fan of kids in stories in general and especially not of ones that suddenly appear and get a certain degree of importance to the story. I’m already attached to only a few people in snk and honestly don’t care about a random kid that shows up towards the end of the plot.
