Leverage S02E12 The Zanzibar Marketplace Job.
getting really emotional about how dubenich picks the leverage crew because they only ever work alone, and in both the nigerian job AND the last dam job the way they outsmart him is to go find people they trust and ask for help.
op: #dubenich says these 4 people will immediately turn on each other and then the first thing they do is go find sophie#and then he's like ok so i've learned my lesson time if i can't divide them i'll make it impossible for them to act#SIKE BITCH they learned how to make friends while you were in prison! and you're the reason they learned!

Allies in The Last Dam Job
There's this fun bit of attention to detail In The Last Dam Job when they're discussing how to get Dubenich:
This isn't quite the full gif but what it is is that Sophie says that Dubenich is going to know every friend, every person that they would be expected to go to for help. And Nate looks at Eliot and goes "we find someone who is not a friend" to Sophie and Parker "someone who is not in the game" to Hardison "someone we do not trust." And that's exactly what happens.
Eliot recruits Quinn who we last saw trying to kick the shit out of Eliot:
Parker recruits Archie who is retired:
Sophie recruits Maggie who is the token honest friend in this heist show:
And Hardison recruits Chaos who they all hate for trying to kill Sophie:
It's just a good bit of attention to detail.
Maggie is so goddamn funny
Nate's like, don't worry, I never slept with Sophie when we were together
And she's like, it's fine, I didn't fuck your very sexy friend Sterling, either
Wow, Maggie has awful tastes in men.
my only criticism:
sophie and maggie totally hooked up during sophie's voyage of self-discovery or something. they definitely had one great night and called it friends

Leverage 1x13 - "The Second David Job"
maggie is so funny for being the only person in the leverage universe who can immediately see through scams lol. in most spy/cop/crime/etc shows the audience is meant to assume that the loud stage whispering is inaudible in-universe, that the obvious "lying voice" is much less obvious, and that those things are made clearer for the audience’s benefit. sure, maggie has the advantage of knowing to be suspicious but the team deal with a lot of people who should be suspicious of any newcomers, and whose lives or careers depend on being able to spot a double cross. so i guess in-universe maggie is like… uniquely & superhumanly perceptive. she’s a tv character who’s immune to tv logic. her life must be so weird
[average day at work]
coworker: i guess that guy is just a normal person with no connection to the art smuggling world!
maggie: he walked 2 feet away. stood facing the corner. put a hand to his ear. and started talking loudly about how he "almost got caught" and needs to meet with someone at a cafe down the street in an hour
coworker: mhm, i don’t understand your point?
maggie: ……

edit: people I have been told I forgot
- agent taggert
- peggy
- cheryl from the mile high job (she and hardison continued to be WoW buddies. she is bisexual because I said so and is a queer gaming elder to breanna that breanna totally doesn’t have a crush on)
- patrick bonanno (I’m not sure if he’s dead like the actor in canon but if he’s alive he’s going)
Bonanno immediately befriends Vance. They make a pact that none of their respective employers can ever find out that they spent half a day at a wedding surrounded by about 50 of the world’s most notorious criminals and *cough*cough* did not seem to realize because, uhhhhh… they were blinded by the fanciness of the hors d'oeuvres and were not paying attention to the other guests.
McSweetheart spends the whole wedding thinking everyone is an undercover FBI agent. Taggert keeps thinking a certain guest or 50 looks like someone on the FBI’s Most Wanted list, but the Leverage International crews are tag teaming to convince him he’s seeing things.
Sterling shows up with an elaborate plot to arrest the bride and grooms, which is foiled at the very last minute as Parker, Eliot, and Hardison make a dramatic dive into their getaway vehicle honeymoon limo. It’s his wedding present to them.
I just want to remind everybody
Leverage gave us a middle-aged couple who impetuously fell into bed and had hot passionate sex, then cleaned up their acts emotionally before committing to each other in marriage.
Leverage gave us a young black man gently, wisely courting a non-neurotypical blonde white woman.
Leverage gave us a young black man whose two white male best friends both describe him as the smartest man they’ve ever known.
Leverage gave us a guitar-playing country boy, an ex-hitman and army vet, who puts his life in the hands of a geeky black man and his blonde girlfriend (till death do them part).
Leverage gave us Parker, Sophie, Maggie, and Tara; it also gave us female villains with as much cunning, ruthlessness, and agency as any man’s.
Leverage gave us villains who were rich, powerful, greedy white people who had to have just a little bit more, and a clever, cunning, usually compassionate, occasionally terrifying white guy who beat them at their own game and robbed the rich to help the poor.
Leverage, gentlefolx.
Leverage also gave us a black man who was the computer nerd and not the muscly grunt.
Leverage also gave us an Alpha Male™ who unashamedly loved to cook, despite it being a classically feminine skill.
Leverage also gave us a discussion about faith, which was not used to bash the atheists for being non-believers, and was not used to bash the theists for not believing in science. Leverage gave us an interfaith relationship between a Catholic and an atheist.
Leverage also gave us a small, sexy, blonde woman who was not used as a sexual object, who was never told she screwed up when she couldn’t play that part, and who developed not into the sexy distraction, but into the team leader.
Leverage is amazing.
