the bechdel test was invented so that you can be just as mad as i am that this scene somehow does not end with sophie pinning parker against the pillar of the gazebo and making out with her while parker grabs her ponytail. like i know that sophie's last line is alluding to hardison but are you FUCKING kidding me

Me walking up to a polycule: which one of you is the Hitter, which is Hacker, and which is the Thief?

One of the people: *puts an arm around me and asks* Well, what do you think?

Me: *immidiately knows this one is the thief as I felt them stealing my wallet*

harry muttering to himself as he tries to pick a lock, remembering what parker taught him: not too much pressure on the wrench. nice and easy, like you're holding a woman's hand. gentle, gentle...

me: parker can give that instruction because she has held women's hands because she's bi

Speaking of Eliot Spencer -

I love love love how he makes a point to remind Breanna that she specifically isn’t safe on a train full of white supremacists because of both her race and her sexual orientation/gender presentation. It tells me that he’s aware of specific threats against his crew because of various social problems. He’s just good ok?

Anonymous asked:

i see leverage ot3 is popular on tumblr but i've watched the show and i've never seen one instance with elito expressing romantic interest in parker. not to hate it i'm just confued. it seems like he sees her like a sister?

Oh Anon, you picked the wrong person to ask. I will ship people from completely different fandoms, time periods, and types of media just because I think it's cute. I won't let something as silly as canon keep me from a good ship.

But I mean, dude looks at the both of them and says Nate gave him what he needed and he never has to search anymore and promises Sophie to love them keep them safe 'til his dying day. That them's marrying words in fandom land.

(Of course, everyone is allowed to ship and headcanon what they want. Your headcanon is just as valid as mine!)

Also not tagging it into the wider pool but ... Yeah, it's interesting because they don't do romantic stuff. It's not like Hardison and Parker, it's not even like Eliot and Hardison. But Eliot knows Parker deep down to the heart of her and in spite of his surface sniping about her weirdness, he likes what is at the heart of her. In the job on the mountain they connect deeply about how she sees herself as bad and how he understands them both as human in ways that make the team stronger. When Parker wants to learn what it means to feel something that is a passion apart from work, Eliot cooks for her and is patient with her until she gets it. You can ship them as romantic, you can ship them as sexual, you can ship them as platonic, but that doesn't change the bond that's part of what makes the OT3 work. Although of course it'd be lovely to see an overtly romantic OT3 in some media, the space inside the Leverage OT3 for it to be aro or ace, or aro and ace is a really nice bit of breathing room for people whose relationships don't always look like what people see as romance.

The only poly relationships I can think of in a TV show are closed triads, which are fine but that's not the only poly relationship structure out there. If you're looking at canon alone then yes, as said above there's a deep bond between Eliot and Parker but Eliot seems to have a more intense/flirty vibe with Hardison. So? Maybe they're in a V and Hardison is the hinge?

I, uh... Don't suppose you know those canon Closed Triads on TV off the top of your head? Asking for me, cuz it's more poly than I've ever seen and I want it.

The two actual shows are Trigonometry which you can watch on the BBC’s site here (you may need a VPN) and You Me Her which is on Netflix.

Trigonometry is about a young couple who rent out their spare room because they’re having financial troubles (gasp! and they were room mates!) and both of them start to develop feelings for their flatmate. I enjoyed it, but it’s a little hilarious that no one utters the term ‘polyamory’ until like episode 6 or something, as if no one has heard of the concept.

I’d seen gifsets of later seasons of You Me Her on Tumblr which was what made me look into it, but I couldn’t get past the first few episodes. A married couple starts seeing another woman because the husband hires her as an escort, and then the wife finds out about it - it’s a lot of boundary crossing all at once and it was a bit much for me. YMMV.

There have also been brief moments of poly relationships popping up in other shows (Elementary comes to mind) but those are very much one-scene, mentioned-just-to-be-edgy things.

Just little moments that made my heart happy while rewatching just the first bit of 2x03:

🔸Harry preparing coffee for himself and Sophie during the briefing

🔸Sophie teasing spoilers for the in universe version of GBBO and Parker moving to cover Eliot's ears so he won't hear

🔸Breanna self-correcting "inside man" to "inside person" and Sophie using that same term later when referring to Breanna

Bonus: Breanna's soft butch outfits
