Small detail that is likely coincidental because any random number could’ve been chosen, but in the Homecoming Job, when Nate and Sophie are pretending to be lost tourists who are arguing, Sophie mentions them having three kids and I’m not saying Sophie considers Eliot, Hardison, and Parker to be her three kids after only two episodes, but I’m also saying that Sophie considers Eliot, Hardison, and Parker to be her three kids after only two episodes

notable moments from The Homecoming Job

leverage 1.02

Dr. LeRoque: Pardon me, Mr. uh?

Nate: Oh, uh, Nathan Ford. You’re Dr. LeRoque?

Dr. LeRoque: Can I talk to you outside?

Perry: Doc, he’s cool, I found him on the internet.

Dr. LeRoque: Yes, that never goes badly. (to Nate) With me.

Nate: Uh… I’ll be in touch.

(Perry hands him the flash drive and Nate follows the doctor out of the room)

okay but big mood “I found him on the Internet” “that never goes badly”

but also,,, bruh we NEED to know how their clients found them,,, like ??? H O W

Was looking at gifs from the Homecoming Job and noticed that even then, on their second job, Eliot, Parker, and Hardison do not believe in personal space. They are like magnets, inexplicably drawn to each other.

There are times when there is no logical reason for them to be that close. At first I tried to play it off as Parker not being the best at social cues. But then again, outside of Archie, Parker has always (to my knowledge) worked alone. She's not one to intentionally establish contact with others.

Then I noticed Eliot is at times the one to initiate the contact. A hand on a shoulder/arm, hand at the waist. Sitting as close to Parker as possible during debriefing.

Then there's this moment. There is no logical reasoning why they are crowded so close together that Eliot can't even lay his arm down.

Look at all that extra space. Also totally NOT picturing them in their custom made King size bed, at all.

I don't know how I missed it the first time I watched the show (not just this episode but the show in general, maybe it's because I did not know polyamory was a thing (only messy triangles) but I never connected the dots that all three were so in love) but even from this early on, and even in the pilot, they were drawn to each other.

It's amazing what you notice when you KNOW things.

You know what’s a really great moment in “The Homecoming Job”? When Eliot, playing the waiter, tries to get the mark to say a specific phrase so Parker can have all the sounds she needs to defeat the voice lock.

Because on the one hand, it’s all just window dressing to set up the “fuck” joke. But on the other hand, this moment gives you so much Eliot character information.

Eliot is very, very smart, and he knows it. Parker lists out the sounds she needs, and Eliot immediately says he’s on it. Because this sort of mental challenge is something Eliot considers to be well within his wheelhouse. And then, within moments, he comes up with a phrase that mostly does the trick.

Eliot knows his food. This ends up being a defining character note, and it’s introduced here as he goes through his encyclopedic knowledge of fancy dishes and comes up with a plausible-sounding offering, again, within seconds.

Eliot loves trolling people. The whole “greasy duck” thing, the feigned confusion to get the mark to actually say “pâté d’escargot avec beurre d’Argentine,” the anger the mark feels after he realizes it’s actually shrimp — Eliot is clearly amused as hell the entire time.

Part of what makes this show so satisfying is how hardworking every scene is. If it’s not doing three things at once, then it doesn’t make the cut. It really is a lesson in great writing.
