Leverage should physiologically torture a guy by convincing him he's stuck in a time loop
parker still often casually pickpockets, to keep her skills fresh and! for fun, but she puts it back, she’s one of the good bad guys now. the team still notices, apparently, because she starts finding little notes in hardison’s pockets that say things like: ‘i love you’, ‘looking good today, babe’ or 'damn, u even managed to find the inner pocket? impressive <3’.
eliot (although he says it’s just ingredients for cooking) carries around chocolate and bits of fruit (in little containers so they won’t melt/get dirty) and he feels a bit like those balls with food in them animals get for enrichment. they find little gems/pretty rocks/small flowers in their pockets sometimes, and smile.
*steals your heart and also your wallet*
This may seem like an exaggeration, the idea that one can learn how to properly think like a criminal by learning how crime stories work. On a personal note, let me tell a story from the Leverage writer’s room.
Apollo Robbins (http://www.istealstuff.com/) runs a crew of professional thieves who consult for law enforcement. He was also our criminal consultant on Leverage. Every few weeks he would visit the writer’s room to advise on the scripts and keep us up to date about new cons and the latest in criminal technology.
One day during the third season he sat in with the writers while we broke a story. We posted the details of a real-life white collar criminal up on the room’s whiteboard, using him as the basis for our Mark. We looked at his weaknesses, how he moved his money, what his hobbies were. Once we were happy with that element of the story we added a Vault to the mix, one that used an interesting new alarm technology we’d researched. We then spent about an hour figuring out how to circumvent that alarm. We even sketched out a map of the imaginary building so we could keep track of our Crew’s movements during the Job.
“Well, I’m done here,” Apollo muttered. Noting our confusion, he pointed at the board and index cards cluttering the wall. “This is exactly how real Crews plan these things. This writer’s room is now a fully functioning criminal gang. You could be thieves.”
Of course writing television pays better than crime (usually), with far less chance of being arrested (usually), so we all managed to resist the temptation. But aside from the day a US Attorney asked us to change a plot because we’d created a scam that was a little too foolproof, or when a Homeland Security Agent admitted they were spooked by a security hole we’d exploited in our season finale, it was certainly one of the proudest moments I had on the show.

The Mittens job
Three sentence prompt + Leverage ot3 + acceptance
Now Alec never introduces Parker and Eliot as his partners, not in so many words - but a Nana knows. It’s easy to follow her baby’s lead, to accept them and love them just the way he does. She never brings it up herself either, just because she doesn’t want to open the can of beans - if Alec turns the question around on her, which he will, he’ll end up learning a few things about his Nana’s youth that he’d wish he hadn’t.
the clown emoji got me and the bi flag SENT ME
Parker, with wings, as requested. There’s also ice cream and a tiara? Because Parker.
it’s what she deserves
not pictured: Eliot at the bottom, chewing on hors d'oeuvres as he watches her jump
parker: imma do it
eliot, knowing it is fruitless: ...babe, don’t
parker: imma do it
hardison: she’s gonna do it real hard
eliot: *sighs because the two people he loves are complete chaotic disasters*
~ later ~
parker, swinging into sight: yeEHAW
hardison, giving her a thumbs up as he takes pictures: you’re doing great sweetie
eliot (as mentioned above), chewing hors d’oeuvres as he watches her jump: [fondly] twenty pounds of crazy in a five pound bag
Leverage Headcanons: Working at the Brew Pub
Being on the Bridgeport brew pub staff is nice. Weird but nice. A bit above living wage pay (and tips for the bar and waitstaff), plus benefits, which most restaurants don’t do for hourly staff.
Of course, it is kind of tough, too. Hardison’s the owner and he lives in the apartment literally behind the restaurant. Like, if you screw up, the owner is RIGHT THERE.
Consensus among the staff is similar to Amy’s take: Hardison is an awesome boss. Super laid back, friendly; just as long as you work hard, he’s happy to keep people around.
Though oddly enough, he doesn’t seem like a typical restaurant owner; he’s obviously very smart and it seems like the restaurant is more like a hobby than his career.
The staff likes Parker but they’re not entirely sure what her job title is. Does she even have a job title? For that matter, is Parker her first or or her surname? NO ONE KNOWS.
The kitchen staff like and respect Eliot. He’s passionate about his food, that’s for damn sure. He can talk hours about food and alcohol pairings if you let him. He can be a little gruff at times but he’s an awesome mentor for the kitchen staff and he’s more than happy to work with anyone so long as they show that they’re willing to put in the effort.
One thing that everyone notices: sometimes Eliot will show up with injuries. There’s rampant speculation about whether or not he’s an underground MMA fighter. (Someone found an old Youtube video for a defunct MMA fight league with a guy that looks a lot like him but had a different name. Other strange dopplegangers staffers have uncovered on the Internet include a baseball player, and a country music singer. Weird.)
No one’s really been allowed in back apartment aside from Amy. People have debated sneaking in, specifically to find out whether or not Eliot has a separate bedroom because that might answer the “are they dating” question no one has the courage to ask.
No one has dared to actually try and sneak into the back apartment because they like being employed.
Another thing the staff can’t help but notice is that Hardison, Eliot, and Parker will all just take off for days, sometimes weeks at a time.
Sometimes, they’ll close the place suddenly, for a day or two, and give everyone the day off with pay. No reason given.
Long time brewpub staff isn’t phased by it; they say this is how it’s always been run. Even if they disappear for a bit, they always come back.
Some staffers wonder if the brew pub is a front for something but no one can agree what it’s a front for.
Eliot, Hardison, and Parker just don’t seem like the criminal type so that rules out any kind of organized crime connections.
Someone suggested they’re vigilante crime fighters, which could explain Eliot’s injuries, but that was shot down by Amy who just laughed her butt off at the suggestion.
also, consider:
the staff has a betting pool on who is dating who
amy just grins when people try to pry if she knows anything but she never puts money in the pot because she’s nice like that
like six (6) tops people believe all three of them are dating
one of them is a lesbian, one is a bisexual, one is a very-confident-about-the-ot3 polyamorous person, one of them is nb, and the other two are straight but Have Eyes That See Truth™
one of them has a List™ of instances that point to the three of them being an item. it is at least a foot long single spaced. they are dedicated to finding that tea
hardison has a big bin of different buttons for the staff to wear, like she/her, he/him, they/them, along with pride buttons if they want. it started out as accessories for pride month but after seeing how happy it made some of the staff he had a soft, friendly smile and encouraged the pin-wearing year round (I’m sorry I just love pride at the brewpub headcanons)
and yes, there’s also a betting pool for what they do. the most money put in is for betting that they do some shady off-the-books work. one (1) person put it all in on vigilantism
new parents (women AND men) get extra paid time off, more than any other job like this would offer
all staff get a serious discount on the food. like, 80% off or some shit
because you’re the reason.
@eliotspencerr THANK YOU FOR MAKING THESE GIFS, IT HITS RIGHT IN THE FEELS LIKE “THE SONG OF ACHILLES” QUOTES SHOULD
Leverage / The Old Guard Headcanons
Eliot has encountered The Old Guard at least twice. The first was when he was still in the service, one of the many classified missions he was on. He didn’t interact with them much; they were on the same mission but had a different objective than his squad. When they deployed it was hard to miss the swords three of them had on them. He didn’t see them in action but saw their results.
The second time he encountered them was during the “hinky” stuff that Hardison eluded to finding on White House emails during the time between Los Angeles and Boston.
Eliot was in Pakistan as a private contractor doing stuff he was well paid for and that he’s not supposed to talk about. It was mostly protection. Mostly.
Anyway, those weapons of theirs are very distinctive, okay?! It’s not often you see operators with a goddamn labrys, scimitar, and longsword. Again, didn’t really interact; he was performing an extraction of a target while they… weren’t.
Copley knows of Hardison, through the extensive files that the CIA keeps on Hardison and his known actions. After Copley gets recruited by The Old Guard to cover their digital tracks, he reaches out to Hardison because while he’s an ex-spy and can easily take care of the official traces, he needs help from the best… and someone not on anyone’s government payroll.
Hardison’s well beyond taking work for hire now but… when Copley tries to hire him, and Hardison finds out what it’s really all about… he’s ALL THERE. WITH BELLS ON. BECAUSE THIS IS SO COOL. “SERIOUSLY? YOU MEAN THAT CONSPIRACY IS FOR REAL?! HOLY SHIT.”
Never in his wildest dreams did he think he would ever be part of a worldwide level conspiracy spanning milennia that involves immortal warriors and goddamn does he wish he could rub Chaos’ nose in it. HE IS LIVING FOR THIS SHIT.
Parker just missed The Old Guard, though through happenstance. It involved a museum, and an ancient Scythian artifact. Parker was first to the prize despite Booker’s careful planning. (Parker lifted the artifact mostly out of boredom; she put it back later.)
