Reader’s POV
The morning of October 31st saw Tony and me breakfasting together in Avengers Tower. He was already buzzing over the party he was about to host; his egg white omelette was being eaten with apparent gusto but I knew the taste wasn’t registering. It was just fuel to get him through the day. He prattled on between forkfuls of seasoned protein about decorations, liquor, on and on and on. It was too early for me to do anything other than nod along and pretend to listen but I wasn’t irritated. It was just nice to be sitting alone with him. Since receiving the invite it had been hard not to fantasise about what could happen between us at the party, especially since this was likely to be a very sexy event.
Tony had picked a theme of Angels and Demons. I’d teased him about being a Dan Brown fan but really he’d just latched onto an idea that could give some semblance of control over the costumes. Tony said the image of Clint dressed as a slutty cat the year before would haunt him forever and no way was he going through that again.
