But I believe that with strong willpower and support, we can create new opportunities even from the ashes. My name is Osama Basil, and I’m a web developer from Gaza. For nearly a year, I’ve been living through the horrors of war. My office, where I poured my heart into my work, was demolished, and with it, my livelihood, dreams, and ability to provide for my family were shattered.

Each day, life in Gaza becomes increasingly harsh. Destruction and devastation have woven themselves into the fabric of our daily existence, leaving deep scars on our community. The loss of so many friends, colleagues, neighbors, and loved ones weighs heavily on our hearts. Despite these overwhelming challenges, I refuse to give up.

The war took nearly everything from me—my job, my dreams of marriage, the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree in programming and web design, and my ability to support my family. Forced to flee to Rafah with my loved ones, we’ve spent months living in a tent, struggling to survive without reliable access to electricity and the internet—both crucial for my work and our daily life. The lack of stability has made it difficult to maintain even the simplest routines, yet I refuse to let these hardships define me. Every day is a test of resilience, pushing me to adapt and find new ways to continue my work and provide for my family, no matter the obstacles.

Today marks the 11th day of my campaign, and the reality in Gaza continues to worsen. I couldn’t share an update yesterday due to the weak internet access, a reflection of the chaotic situation we are living in. The central area of Gaza, especially Deir al-Balah, has been under immense pressure following new evacuation orders. This has caused 20 shelter centers to go out of service, leaving 100,000 residents with no choice but to flee their homes once again.

The suffering doesn’t end there. Two days ago, residents in Al-Qarara, a region between Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah along the seashore, were surrounded and trapped. The blockade and constant threats created a night of extreme hardship and fear. Families were forced to endure another night of terror, uncertain if they would survive until morning.

Today, as we reach the 321st day of this war, the toll on Gaza's people is unimaginable. Nearly a year has passed since this nightmare began, and each day is marked by more displacement, more loss, and more despair. The daily struggle to find safety, basic necessities, and some semblance of normalcy feels like an endless battle.

Mornings in Gaza are not like mornings anywhere else. Here, they are filled with the echoes of bombings, the cries of those mourning their loved ones, and the haunting silence of abandoned homes. Life here has been reduced to survival, and every day is a painful reminder of the ongoing struggle we face.

Despite the challenges, we remain hopeful for a better tomorrow. We continue to rely on each other for strength and resilience, knowing that we are not alone in this fight. Your support and solidarity mean everything to us as we endure these dark times.

Today marks the 9th day since I launched my campaign, a journey to rebuild what has been lost amidst the chaos. But as I focus on rebuilding, the situation in Gaza only worsens.

The war in Gaza has now dragged on for 318 days!!

This morning August 21, 2024, new evacuation orders were issued for densely populated humanitarian zones in Deir al-Balah. This area, already struggling to accommodate over a million people displaced from Rafah after the occupation entered the city on May 5th, was previously a designated safe zone. However, the occupation has now begun to shrink the humanitarian space even further. After issuing evacuation orders for the eastern areas, they have now targeted parts of the western region, drastically reducing the safe zone.

People are being forcibly displaced under the threat of bombings, with more than 1.5 million individuals crammed into an incredibly small area, struggling to survive without basic human necessities. Families are living in tents, in conditions that strip away their dignity and hope.

Attached is a map that highlights the new evacuation areas and the severely reduced safe zone, marked in yellow. Imagine over 1.5 million people living in this tiny space!! under constant threat, and deprived of the most basic human needs.

Daily Update: Day 6 of My Campaign

Today marks the sixth day since I launched my GoFundMe campaign to rebuild my dreams in Gaza after losing my job, office, and everything I had worked so hard to build due to the ongoing war. The journey has been incredibly challenging, but I am determined to rise again.
