obviously darth maul going back to using a double bladed lightsaber during the siege of mandalore arc was because it looks awesome and it perfectly mirrors his first appearance in the phantom menace but i like that it also makes sense within the narrative because maul wasn’t anticipating ahsoka. he was expecting obi wan and anakin, specifically to kill both of them and the only way he would’ve been able to do that is by reverting to the weapon and combat style that allowed him to take on two jedi in the past and even kill one of them
