#this is how townies in newfoundland talk about anybody at all from around the bay #meaning anybody NOT from the capital city #it’s crazy when i was in highschool it was like almost cool for the bys to play up newfie accents but anybody not from town with an actual #strong accent is talked about like they’re inherently just fucking stupid and backwards #my parents yelled at me when i was a kid for pronouncing the letter h like ‘haytch’ cause thats how i heard the ladies at daycare say it #and my mom thought it made me sound like i was an idiot #just a fun anecdote about our friendly and welcoming newfie culture 😁👍#anyway the longer i work in the public service with a lot of people with very strong accents the stronger my own accent is becoming and i #find great joy in it #maybe love is stored in the newfie accent ❤️
