PSA FOR LGBTQ+ CHRISTIANS

I KNOW THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY CAN BE UNACCEPTING TOWARDS US - BUT PLEASE REMEMBER THAT:

  • YOU ARE NOT HATED BY GOD
  • YOU WILL NOT BE CONDEMNED TO HELL BECAUSE OF WHO YOU ARE
  • YOU CAN STILL BE A CHRISTIAN - REGARDLESS OF SEXUALITY AND GENDER
  • BECAUSE GOD SENT HIS SON TO SAVE EVERYONE - REGARDLESS OF SEXUALITY AND GENDER
  • AND YOU ARE UNCONDITIONALLY LOVED BY GOD - REGARDLESS OF SEXUALITY AND GENDER
  • DON’T LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERWISE.

THANKYOU AND GOODNIGHT

~~ you’re all so strong and deserving of acceptance. remember that you are not a burden. keep going and stay strong xx

1: A twitter thread from user @ UrsulaV that reads, “If you’re ever feeling guilty about not cooking a fresh home-cooked meal, a reminder that people in cities historically either had cooks or ate at food stalls, going back to Ancient Greece. Ancient Egypt, too, although since everybody ate bread, beer, and onions, less of a thing.”

“It’s a weird quirk of our obsession with nuclear families that everybody is expected to have time, skill, and equipment to cook daily and that if you’re a woman, particularly, you are a lesser person if you aren’t casually able to cook every day with random fresh ingredients.

Don’t buy into that. People since forever have hired cooks, gone to inns, lived in extended families where it wasn’t always your turn to cook, or ate such simplified diets that it was less of an issue.

You haven’t failed at a normal human task, you have been sold an unrealistic expectation and told it was a normal human task. Go get takeout. Or beer, bread, and onions. Eat cheese and some dates. Relax.” End ID]

On twitter I’m seeing dozens of threads from Black activists warning people against burnout, giving all sorts of useful tips about preventing and managing it for the sake of a long-term, sustainable effort.

On tumblr I’m seeing a hell of a lot of young white kids yelling at anyone who actually follows those steps, and acting like burnout is a moral falling rather than a well-proven psychological phenomenon.

Be careful who you get your information from. Don’t let guilt lead you to make choices that will harm both you and the movement.

I’m going to reblog this again since I see more individuals are inquiring about burnout prevention tips in the notes and it’s why I sought out this resource. I hope it helps you!

Just in case you don’t hear it enough, I’m so proud of you. I am proud of you for every time you picked yourself up off the ground. I am proud of you for all the times you kept going when it seemed impossible. You may not be ready to see it yet, but you have so much worth and value. You are enough. And you have always been enough.

it is genuinely bewildering to me that adult human beings do not know this but if you are mean to people they will not like you. like tbh they are probably also not going to like you if you are mean to other people but they are definitely not going to like you if you are mean to them. it doesn’t matter if you are funny or if you can use r/aita rules to prove that you are in the right. people simply so not enjoy being treated like shit.

Lord, You’re the God of restoration, and I ask You to mend what’s been broken. Bring healing where there’s been hurt and reconciliation where there’s been division. Let forgiveness flow like a river, washing away the pain of the past. Amen.

if you're waking up like me thinking "where do we even go from here?"

you:

  • build community & involve yourself locally
  • learn self sustainability skills
  • choose kindness
  • protect others & yourself
  • join or build a mutual aid group and/or network
  • find time for small joys (the arts, cooking a meal you love, spending time with loved ones, etc.)

Things feel heartbreaking, but I hope we can find comfort in one another and afford to take a break, breathe, and indulge in something for ourselves today. It's important to remember too to keep going and to keep creating, especially in the face of so much adversity. I'm sorry if this sounds too dramatic, but it's a good reminder every now and again, especially if you find yourself alone, you know? I know to keep going is so much hard work, but it's absolutely work worth doing!
