Legato wanted so bad for him to see him as an equal, the same way Knives wanted humanity to see him as one AND YET.

i think knives saw elendira more as an equal than legato even. the thing is he didn’t care at all, he just built the strategy- take them as kids and they’ll be grateful as adults, basically what happens after people save little animals etc. tho legato went on another level with his devotion which i think gave knives a tick. while reading trimax i understood it as a fact that canonically Knives thought of Legato as an annoying companion he has to keep for the better purpose lmao
