‘ΛΛLIYΛH’ became more than an album to me, it became a soundtrack to some of the most pivotal moments of my life. As I blossomed from a teen to a young woman, this album (the album that as fans we lovingly coined as ‘The Red Album’) was the one I turned to the most. That I referenced the most every time I needed just a little bit more guidance. As I prepared to spread my wings, Aaliyah had already found hers. This album helped me get through her passing more than any other piece of work that she created. I feel as if this was Aaliyah’s gift to us all. And that not only was this album her ‘baby’, it was now ours as well.

Aaliyah gave us all of herself within the beautiful and intricate folds of her artistry. Through every lilting note and through each perfectly timed adlib. Her soothing voice floating gracefully upon each soft stuttering beat, dancing within the hidden layers of her masterpiece. Immortalized forever

Now 15 years later….the sheer genius of this magnificent body of work still continues to amaze me. Still so far ahead of its time, even to this day, it stands as a testament of not only the type of artist Aaliyah was but of the people she chose to work with and have around her. Thank you to the amazing songwriters and producers. You all created magic. And I am confident Aaliyah knew it too ❤️

Thank YOU Aaliyah. For being a leader, never a follower. For taking risks and for standing your ground and doing what you loved and believed in. Thank you for creating such a beautiful body of work that fans for generations to come, can and will appreciate, the way we still do. You continue to inspire us all.

Happy birthday to the influential wonder that is ‘ΛΛLIYΛH’. It truly lived up to your name Babygirl. You didn’t just create music, you created ART. And through this art, and our hearts, you will continue to live forever 🌹
