“Jacob didn’t want to be a part of this… cult. I don’t understand what could change him.” He stared at me, his face frightened. “I don’t want to be next.”

"Quil said something—you know how he's got a big mouth."

“He thinks it’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened to him. Part of it’s finally knowing what’s going on. And he’s excited to have his friends back– to be part of the in-crowd. Shouldn’t be surprised, I guess. It’s so Quil.” 

• He was the shortest out of the trio group—Jacob, Embry, and Quil. Jacob being the tallest of the three even before phasing happens, with Embry the second tallest.
• What he lacked in height, he made up for in body mass. He’s described as being “burly” and “well-developed”. There’s even an instance where he flexes while shaking Bella’s hand to flex his bicep. Basically, it appears that Quil was a certified gym bro long before he ever had his wolfy-induced growth spurt.
• He’s a shameless flirt and pretty good about it too. While it’s not hard to make the self-insert that is Bella blush, he did so regularly. However, unlike what was depicted in the New Moon film, this never comes off as creepy or unwanted. Instead, book!Bella found it to be funny while not seeming to mind it for the most part.
• Unlike almost all the other wolves, Quil is the only one who had short hair prior to phasing. His was so short, Bella declared it a buzzcut. While I do not and never will tolerate the racist abuse of having the wolves chop their hair off as a requirement post-phasing, I do enjoy the implications behind Quil having personally chosen to have short hair beforehand. Generally speaking, there’s a lot that can be done there as far as the reasoning goes. I like to think of it as something he did to set himself apart for some reason or another which I think is neat. 
• He appears to be a massive instigator who enjoys stirring the pot simply for the sake of it. There are multiple instances of this throughout the series: One is when he and Embry are hanging around in the garage with Bella and Jacob for the first time—Quil repeatedly makes jokes under his breath as well as cheeky expressions for pretty much everything Bella and Jacob said. This ends with him getting an eye roll at some point from Embry and a big scolding accompanied by a hit on the back of the head from Jacob. Another is when Jacob recounts a run-in the trio had with Sam, Jared, and Paul. Quil and his “big mouth” said something which pissed Paul off, leading to him almost phasing in front of them until Sam calmed him down and got him under control.
• When Bella tries to plan the big movie night with the group of friends, she tells Jacob to bring Quil. However, he ends up unable to go due to being grounded for fighting in school.
• Jacob tells Bella a story about how Quil got into some trouble because he asked out a senior guy’s long-term girlfriend for a date. Whether he did this knowingly or accidentally is up for debate but given what we know about Quil at this point, it’s easy to infer he did so on purpose which more or less takes us back to the stirring the pot for fun point.
• More than once we see Jacob a little peeved because he says/thinks that Quil likes Bella. Whether this is true or not is never stated as he is seen to be a flirt but the thought alone was enough to bug Jacob and humor Bella.
• Sometime after Jacob first phases, Quil does all he can to get to the bottom of things and get his friends back. He told Bella as much after she ran into him while searching for Jacob. He even went as far as trying to follow them as they disappeared into the woods. He’s stated to have spent an hour stumbling around in the forest alone, looking and yelling for them to no avail.
• Despite the others in the pack being saddened by the thought that Quil would soon change and join them, Quil was nothing less than jazzed when it finally happened. Jacob says that it was partly due to the fact that he was now in on the big tribal secret and partly because he got to have his friends back.
• When Jacob brings Bella to the bonfire to meet the pack and hear the stories, Quil immediately jumps up and rushes to her. He greets her with a high-five and a kiss on the cheek. 
• He once made a joke that the reason Sam’s fur is black is to represent his black heart. Sam combated this by asking if it meant that Quil had chocolate brown fur due to how sweet he is.
• When the pack first gets news of Bella being pregnant and starts planning how to attack, Quil offers to take point of Jacob’s group—the pair of them and Embry, so that Jacob doesn’t have to carry the grunt of the work after Jacob starts to be overcome with emotion and sick at the thought of fighting.
• And after Jacob breaks off from Sam’s pack, Quil—along with Embry, was the most torn up about it and almost instantly willing to join Jacob’s pack. Seth states that they’d both rather stand behind Jacob than face him in a fight. This is proven when they later join the Black Pack for good.
