Dipper and Mabel Agere Head Canons

  • Both Dipper (he/him) and Mabel (she/mew/sparkle) regress to about 2-5 years old
  • They actually didn't start regressing until their parents divorced and their Grunkles got full custody of them when they were fourteen
  • They almost never regress without the other, forever twins lol
  • Dipper regresses to cope with their parents treatment of him and their divorce, as well as wanting a childhood where he isn't forced to be a girl
  • Mabel regresses to cope their parents divorce as well as her fears of growing up and Dipper leaving mew
  • There's also definitely some lasting trauma from experiencing the apocalypse at age 12 that they both experience
  • Dipper likes playing in the woods, being read to and watching Stanford work while he tells him stories of the multiverse
  • Mabel likes looking for cute cryptids, coloring/arts and crafts and, helping Stanley make new attractions for the Mystery Shack
  • Stanley worries about the kids because he knows this is response to trauma but he absolutely adores taking care of them when their little, it reminds him of when they were that age the first time
  • Stanford feels like this might have been an all too generous blessing from the axolotl, letting him protect and care for his niblings that he never got to see before the age of 12

What if I regressed him and he like instantly starts crying and Stan is freaking out because he doesn't know what's wrong

Stan tries to rattle things (babies like that right?? They like shiny things that make noise??? Is the thought going through Stan's mind)and offering things he knows Ford likes and liked when they were younger

But, when Stan is close enough, Ford just crumbles into his brother's chest, muffled voice as he's hiccuping apologies and lil "m'orry"

Because big Ford has that barrier around his emotions- an act of ego that keeps him from apologizing to his brother

Buuut, tiny Ford? Oh lil guy ain't got that barrier-

📕-Teen regressor! 16-18

📕-semi perma regressed, actually! In the BOB Bill flat out says a part of him is permanently stuck at 18 so I ran with that-

📕-I think he’s actually somewhat aware he regresses. He’s an educated guy after all! But he never really saw it as a big deal if that makes sense? Like to him-it’s just another personality trait. He’s not keeping it a secret-but he won’t really bring it up unless someone else does first

📕-Likes playing dndnd a lot! Will pester his brother to play with him. (Has actually succeeded a handful of times! To everyone’s surprise-)

📕-While he likes tabletop he also really enjoys video games! That Atari we see Mabel and Dipper play on in that one episode? That was actually his! He used to play it a lot more before he got…caught up in his research

📕-Dipper, Mabel, and Soos show him more modern games too! He’s really into horror puzzle games specifically

📕-“Let’s” Stanley “drag him” into trouble (he secretly also wants to do whatever shenanigans his brother is up to. He just likes to pretend he’s responsible)

📕-Actually really into fantasy/sci-fi books! Not just non fiction

📕-Can and WILL explain the entire plot of the book series he likes if someone shows a smidge of interest. And he will not miss a SINGLE detail. You know the birthday of the main characters best friends dog’s sister by the time he’s done yapping to you

♠️-Also teen regressor! 17-18

♠️-Stan isn’t actually aware he regresses until someone points it out (likely his brother). He just always assumed he was being childish sometimes. He sort of brushed it off at first, actually. But the more he thought about it? The more it made sense

♠️-Not big on tabletop. But Stan also really likes video games! He sticks with older stuff the classics.

♠️-Trouble maker. Can and will vandalize whatever he can get his hands on. From minor stuff like scribbling “PINES” on the booth tables in the diner to straight up spray painting rude hand gestures and swears on walls

♠️- DEFINITELY likes to explore abandoned buildings (cough it’s a great place for the previous hc cough) and absolutely will drag Ford along. Calls it “ghost hunting” to convince him (Ford would have gone anyways)

♠️-Likes binging TV shows (normally older kid cartoons. Like Ducktective). Tries to get Ford into it to (Again to everyone’s surprise-Ford actually will! He might not be super into it but hey. It’s not like Stan’s super into his tabletop games either)

♠️-He will also occasionally watch dramatic soap operas. Not that he would tell anyone that-

♠️-Actually likes to hang around the animals. Gommpers and Waddles are pretty great company

BECAUSE I CANT HANDLE HOW YALL HAVE IGNORED MY BOY

And headcannons because mwah I love you 💕

  • I feel like he'd just describe his regression as "having some kid time"
  • Okay so no set age range, he's just a kid! Sometimes he's younger than others but he's fairly self sufficient.
  • But that doesn't mean he doesn't want to be babied!! And his regression is absolutely triggered (positively) by important people doting on him.
  • Grandma made cookies? "Sweet!! Thanks granny :)" Stan nodded approvingly at a repair he did? An almost silent "yuss"
  • He absolutely made a copy of Stan's hat out of paper and got really sad when the marker he used made the paper wet and thin so it didn't stay up right, but then he got the idea to use red construction paper and oh yeah it's coming together now!!
  • He's got one of those pens with a bunch of colours and uses it to doodle little ninja dudes on sticky notes, they're all cutting fruit and he leaves the sticky notes everywhere.
  • Also it's fun to take apart and put back together as a fidget.
  • "hey dudes I found this pen with like- nine different colors. I could draw so many fruit ninjas with this- like apples or strawberries or.. hey I need to look up more fruits!"
  • His regression isn't very noticeable if that makes sense? Like he's just so openly regressed like half the time that no one bats an eye when he does something childish because 'thats just how Soos is'
  • He's got a favorite cup and it's an off brand snack cup that has the spot for your snacks built into the lid. Stan bought a bunch for the store with the mystery shack logo and one had a defect so he let Soos keep it
  • He uses it basically every day, all the time, everywhere. "It's just so convenient!!"
  • Throughout the series (or I guess as summer progresses) Stan gets closer with Soos and I think this plays into Soos's regression in a positive way. Stan doesn't exactly become his caregiver but he watches for Soos, makes sure he's doing okay and draws with him from time to time.
