A familiar but bothersome pain tears you out of your deep sleep. You try to ignore it and go back to sleep but the power of the cramps is just too dominant to ignore. You give up and slide out from under your blanket, a rush of chilly air nipping your skin.
An empty cool spot greets you as you look at the side your boyfriend, Armin, usually sleeps on. Hating the fact that he’s on a work trip and not home, you reluctantly get out of bed to grab a pad and some midol from the medicine cabinet. Turning on the light to the bathroom, you see a little sticky note on the mirror.
The midol is on the third shelf!
You smile to yourself and you open the cabinet to see that the midol is exactly where he said it would be. You quickly put on a pad, close the cabinet, and head to the kitchen to refill your water cup.
Turning on the light on a dim, you make a beeline towards the fridge, only to be stopped by another neon pink note:
No cold water!! Room temperature water only!
You ignore his note and open the fridge to grab your water bottle but another note greets you instead:
You ignored my first note (•̀ᴗ•́)و no cold water, I mean it! Now close the fridge and head to the island my love
Ugh. How annoying. Armin has told you time and time again that drinking cold water is not good for you. You can’t help it if you prefer the icy feel of cold water. You begrudgingly close the fridge, and head towards the brita that’s on the island. You refill your cup, swallowing your midol. You turn off the light and head back to your warm bed.
You’ve finally just adjusted comfortably on your bed when your phone illuminates the dark room. You decide to ignore it considering how late it is. You shut your eyes but the light from your phone is too bright. You grab it so you can turn down the brightness but a text from your boyfriend is waiting for you on the screen:
Armin ♡︎
“You’re probably heading to sleep now but I’m sorry I’m not there. I’ll be home soon to give you stomach rubs. I love you so much.”
Lips curving in a gentle beam, you quickly close your phone and try once again to head back to sleep. This time, it’s not a text that interrupts you but a facetime instead. You groan into your pillow.
“Is some sleep so hard to ask for, all of a sudden.” You grab your phone in frustration, curious as to who would facetime you at this hour.
A picture of Armin’s beautiful face lights up the screen as you quickly slide your finger across the screen to answer, worried as to why he would call you at this time.
“Armin, are you okay?” The tendrils of anxiety start to grab you within their sticky grasp.
Taking a look at the screen, you notice the outside of your apartment door greets you instead of your boyfriend’s face. Confused, you sit up in bed.
“Open the door, Y/N.” are the only words he says.
You throw your blanket off you and run to the door, unlocking it and sure enough standing there is Armin, arms wide open. Without hesitation, you jump into his arms with a squeal, wrapping your legs around his waist.
“I knew it was about time your period would show up so I sped through all my meetings so I could catch the first flight back home to you.” Armin says as he carefully walks back into the apartment, one arm around you and the other pulling the suitcase behind him.
You carefully slide down from the bear hug and open your mouth to say something but a yawn makes its way out instead.
“Okay, bedtime. Let’s go.” Armin twirls you around and wraps his arms around you and walks you towards the bedroom. Once he has you back in bed, he toes off his shoes and gets into his spot, the spot that was cold and empty just five minutes ago. He spoons you and grabs the blanket to cover the both of you.
His warm hand makes its way to your belly, rubbing small circles whilst murmuring sweet nothings into your ear. You fall asleep to the comfort of your boyfriend’s warmth, cramps long forgotten.
