Happy birthday to one of my favorite people and biggest artistic inspirations. I’ve listened to Have One On Me everyday for the past 6 years and my life wouldn’t be the same without her music. Happy 35th Joanna!
this is from r pecknold’s instagram. It is in reference to JN’s 30th bday (it says 2011 I think that is a typo)

Henri Rousseau, The Wedding (1904-5)
“One of Rousseau’s most famous works, this charming painting was exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Indépendants of 1905. The artist himself is included among the figures–to the right of the bride–but otherwise the identity of the party is unknown…His work was invoked as exemplifying how a literal attention to objective appearance could convey elevated spiritual content. These ideas sparked a debate within the Blaue Reiter over the nature of the new spiritual art.”
this painting is so charming~ it’s hard to tell from the photo but the dog shares the same mustache and sideward glance as Rousseau
