Gabrielle in Every Season: Season Three

Episode parallels - Teach me everything you know.

We’re going back to episode parallels within the show, from start to midway, to the end. This was just after Xena taught Gabrielle, ‘The Pinch’. That last gif shows Gabrielle’s sudden reaiization of what she asked of Xena on the first day they met in the season 1 episode, ‘Sins Of The Past’, and then again in the season 3 episode, ‘One Against An Army’, which she was too delirious to remember even saying. But here she realizes and remembers exactly what it was Xena meant when she told her that she just wanted her to know all that she knew. It just goes to show what it was that was most important to Gabrielle to begin with, changed later on, after all the violence and blood-lust and killings she experienced and participated in as a sidekick travelling with Xena and as Queen of the Amazons.  

She wished to be a warrior just like Xena so she could be by her side fighting for the ‘greater good’. This is why she wanted to be taught everything that Xena knew. All her “many skills”. This is Xena honouring her wish. Xena always remembered. But it seems Gabrielle only just did at that very moment when Xena told her, “I want you to know what I know.”
