I cannot save
her
“Forgive me, Ross. I cannot save her.” “I will stay with her. I will not have her be afraid.”
Was she afraid? She was peaceful. I held her in my arms.
Come back, my love. C o m e b a c k .
I will stay with her.
Was she afraid?
She was peaceful. I held her in my arms.

How did we make something so perfect?
For the record, this was my favourite section of the episode, but Ross was a little clueless.
First of all, if his wife was eight months pregnant, why didn’t he go with her? I know she said she was fine (although, she was clearly not), but Ross didn’t even cotton on until somebody prompted him. At the very least, he could have gone and checked on Demelza during the play, or at least as soon as it had finished. She had the time to walk all the way back to the house and practically give birth before he even realised something might be wrong – meaning he must have dallied an awfully long time before the Doctor said anything. If she hadn’t come back, why did he not look for her? He’s evidently concerned in these pictures. I appreciate he was watching the play, but surely Demelza was a little more important? Then maybe he might have made it in time.
