I took a bunch of "reference" photos while on one of the islands so I could do something along these lines. Me n' @glasseyeartspy's OCs (the pig is named Rhodium now).

I wish it had actually been this nice but with the several tropical storms swirling around us, the humidity was miserable. If we were in an area with wind, or even on a boat blasting through wind and waves, that was totally fine! But being in the still air was awful.

A more accurate portrayal of what it was like most days.

I am sick with god-knows-what that reared its ugly head halfway back home so I need to go get in bed and suffer for a while from that before I can do more.

Romulus was good

got me doodling xenos for the first time in 20 years

and I xeno-ified Wick too of course

doodled yet ANOTHER weird Wick variation, this one took on some vaguely tech qualities

Sleep Token provides one hell of a fun vibe to draw to. I could not decide between an open-mouthed and closed-mouth look so I just went with both.

Fun fact: Wick technically does not need to breathe through their mouth, the openings on their sides and back are spiracles that they can and do breathe through. Hence the smoke coming from both locations.

It is a sight to behold, should you happen across it deep in the woods. But do not hold its gaze.

Finally done with this thing.

Felt like doing a glowy, ghostly Wick in a forest setting, like they've just been happened upon by a random observer. Wick doesn't have any sort of canonical reason for why they have such a variable appearance other than "this would look cool". They're my monstersona and I get to do whatever I want. :V

I like to think this version of Wick is not a malicious entity, but I can't imagine looking at whatever black hole effect is going on with their eyes is good for your vision. It's probably like looking at the sun for too long but in reverse.

gonna leave this to sit overnight at least so I can come back at it and do one more round of nitpicking before I consider it "done". at this point it's mostly finishing effects anyways.

leave it to me to plan out a piece and then get lost as hell in the rendering of a singular dimension of the piece that was supposed to be blurred to begin with

eh I'll probably just blur the tall grass in the foreground.

I can just imagine how nuts I'll go when I actually get to the rendering of the subject and then the background aspects.

thought I got away with not getting sick after holiday traveling (stupid acid reflux flare-ups aside)

woke up at like 2 AM with the worst burning throat I've had in years, and it's still present despite taking cold meds. raw burning sensation in throat and upper chest, no actual cough but all the discomfort, light-headed, everything feels hot…. tried to scribble something to represent it w/ Wick

I feel like I should be able to breathe fire or something and bc we just went over this new attendance policy at work and I am on call tomorrow I have to at least try to show up and can't just call off like I normally might :) :) :)

messing around with another Wick variation, this time if they were """normal""" (had a normal two-eye set-up and not a singular giant eye); probably some kind of disguise glamour

and also if they were blue

as much as I love having characters with weird eye set-ups, sometimes there are certain expressions I can only get away with in a “normal” set-up, and this was sort of born from that

quick little doodle of Wick I did a while ago but didn’t finish up until recently. I needed to take a break from the big piece I’m working on anyways

Updated my monstersona Wick’s reference sheet. I’m too lazy to go start a new one from the ground up, so I’ve just taken the one I originally made in 2020 and thrown edits onto it. Said edits include:

- a new tongue taken from the “cave” variant I doodled a little while ago - new inset showing off that Wick does, in fact, have eyelids of some sort - very very slight marking changes (mostly on the thighs) - flavor text

I guess I should put this here too since work and life bogged me down and I didn’t get around to doing any self-indulgent things, all I did for Discount Chocolate Day was a quick Wick doodle.

took a doodle from a sketchbook I bought a while back and cleaned it up. this Wick variant has no eyes and more sensory feelers all over for feeling/smelling things in the air. original sketch just cuz (yes said sketchbook is a Sith journal from Star Wars Land, the paper’s flimsy but it’s fun)

tumblr is going to eat this file so here’s an alternative viewing spot 2021 got off to an amazing start of every day at work feeling like a hectic Monday and has been kicking my ass, and not much has happened art-wise. But I can at least compile some doodles/forever-stuck-in-limbo WIPs/rendering experiments that are somewhat recent. :v

it feels like I’ve done hardly anything artwise lately, but what I have done is a) mostly worm things and b) mostly done at work. 

felt like doing a new header for my twitter, one with the proper dimensions to not roach the image out

because I noticed I forgot to add the tooth color to the palette, and also I realized the shading made things hard to see so I went and lightened it up.
