so I scared myself with the preview of LL#25 into thinking Rewind might be dead again (I’ve since become skeptical of my own train of thought that led me here), so I scribbled out an AU version in my notes where he’s made of wood or something (prolly inhabits the same place that my monster-AU Brainstorm and Nautica do, and who also need new names)

guest appearance by extra-sad, fluffy bat man Chromedome who is sad because I can’t figure out what to do with his face yet so he just has mismatched eyes right now

More gemformers! Chromedone/Yellow Chalcedony and Rewind/Hematite.

Chromedome was originally going to be Citrine. But after I decided on him having actual ears and a hide-able toothy mouth and no other facial features, it dawned on me that he looked a lot like my gemsona Chalcedony. I thought, hey - why not have him be a variation of chalcedony too? The word also matches pretty well with his actual Transformers handle. So Yellow Chalcedony he is. The visor seems to be part of his actual face, so chances are there aren’t any eyes under there.

Yellow Chalcedony has the ability to read gem minds - as long as he has his “weapon”, a set of claw-like finger extensions, embedded in a gem’s projected body. The closer to the gem on the body, the better his readings. But reading is taxing. Especially on poofed gems or gem shards, done with a different setting on his claws. He can also modify gem memories, but that can be even worse for him than simple reading. He used to read gems back when he was more involved with some questionable forces during the war, and it drove him to a point where he was ready to put himself in a situation where his gem would be smashed. He met Hematite, though, and things changed.

Hematite has an ability extremely similar to both Lapis and Pearl as far as being able to project/show precisely events that happened in the past. He lacks a weapon, instead generating a small camera-like head piece that aids in his projecting - with his gem on his back, it’s not located in the best place to directly project from. With the device, he can project into a set spot. Otherwise, his retellings of the past are conjured up around him and whoever he is showing so that it’s almost like they are there. He is constantly collecting information for his own internal archives, gem history and otherwise.

Hematite does have eyes under his visor, but because it never comes off, nobody’s ever seen them. except Yellow Chalcedony maybe He also wears a mask, and that does come off sometimes.

The two are tethers, which is a concept that @mixterglacia came up with that is essentially gem’s equivalent of marriage.

For today's daily drawing, I wound up drawing two of my MTMTE children as adults. Analog still doesn't look entirely grown up but eh.

I somewhat redesigned Analog - my explanation being that slight changes could happen along the way after upgrading to their adult frame. As an adult. Analog has ear-things. Not quite as bat-like as Chromedome's, and shaped a little more like Rewind's "horns". Crossbar received no real notable upgrades other than his face becoming more angular.

I plan on doing the other ones I've designed as well, but for now, I've only done these two.

Another sketch that is from a picture taken by my phone rather than properly scanned. But I did get off my ass to get my tablet out and color it. I actually mashed two sketches together because when I drew him I was only able to fit his torso on the page because of how low I’d placed it, so I drew the legs off to the side and then spliced them together digitally. Which is why it looks a bit weird.

You may remember this guy from this post - he now has a name, which is Analog. He came out looking a tiny bit more spindly here than I intended but oh well, I can fix that the next time I draw him. He’s very friendly and likes to talk with people [in a sort of calm, casual manner] regardless of how little he knows them. Some of Chromedome’s tendencies to have nightmares seemed to seep over into his processor [maybe because Chromedome was the carrier in this case] and as a result he has more bad dreams than he should, though he can rarely remember anything about the nightmares’ content.
