It is not my intention to bring tears to anyone, but this was literally the last bit of a dream I woke up to today. And I am glad that we all exist! And these books!
So I wish you all an amazing new year. May it be stuffed with expected and unexpected beautiful things, people and moments.

[image description: Drawing of Wax and Wayne hugging. Wax is about a head taller than Wayne and wearing a dark dinner jacket with tails. In his right hand he holds a glass flute with champagne in it. He grins down sideways at his friend. Wayne wears a fancy vest over a white shirt and a tall top hat on his head. His eyes are closed and his smile is peaceful. The latter one is placed against Wax's shoulder. In his hand he holds the open champagne bottle. Below it are the words "Happy New Year, mate. I am glad that you exist."]
Character scribble time!!!
Two friends sharing a quiet moment in th evening light.
Good, old times
Wax, Wayne and Lessie having a low-key evening out in the roughs.
Image description: [the image shows Wayne, Wax and Lessie sitting around a campfire in a desert landscape. Wayne sits on a stone to the left of the fire in a duster and wearing a cowboy hat, enigmatically gesturing while tells an apparently rather funny story. Wax and Lessie sit to the right. Both wearing expressions of amusement. Lessie is half lying half leaning into Wax. The light of the fire is glinting of a glass bottle Wax holds in his right hand. Next to them and in the background their three horses are peacefully foraging the scrubs. In the far back giant stone buttes rise shadowed against the pink and purple evening sky. There is a blue haze covering the bottom of mountain ranges in the distance.]
I wanted to draw something relaxing last evening and since it‘s only a week before the new book is released, here is the crew of Mistborn era 2.
Cosmere Inktober – 5 flame
I wasn’t really sure what to do about this one and in the end went for the flame as a source of light and warmth when everything feels cold and numb. This is a rather hasty rendition of the scene. But I hope to give it another try in the future. This one needs a comic page. ------------------- [image description: digital painting of Steris comforting a grieving Wax in front of a fireplace. The picture is very dark, purple shadows, that only light coming from the bright flame behind a iron-wrought lattice. Wax sits to the left in an armchair just staring straight ahead with a disconsolate expression on his face. His hands are gripping the armrests. Steris sits next to him on an ottoman, her left hand softly placed on his arm.]
Cosmere Inktober - 2 weapon
Wax reaching for Vindication was one I wanted to make anyway and since the sketch has been lying around in my Procreate folder for weeks now I jumped at the opportunity yesterday to finish it. And yes, I think it turned out pretty close to how I wanted it to :)
--------------------------------
[image description: Two versions of an image of Wax in midair bursting through the white, glowing mist from below, his mistcloak tassels flaring around him. He reaches upwards with his right hand towards Vindication – the gun is falling down right towards him. Purple highlights glint of the barrel and handhold. Bullets spray around Wax from below dragging streaks of mists after them. The first version has more colours. The upper half of it showing the night above the mist in a dark, indigo blue, while the mists are glowing in warm yellow and pale orange as it lit by fires blow. The second is almost monochrome with a dark, warm, reddish tint to it.]
Cosmere Inktober - 1 puppet
Alright, October is here and even though I probably won’t be able to dedicate as much time and energy to the cosmere Inktober as last year with jobs, my degree and traveling getting in the way, I want to make a few contributions now and then. Even if it is just suuuuper rough and quick stuff… That first prompt turned a bit philosophical in my head. But the more I thought about it the more fitting that early scene of Alloy of Law seemed to me. Here is the prompt list for this year in case you are interested.
When you have to invite the weird couple to your fancy skyscraper party because they are too rich and too influential to ignore. Let’s hope nothing gets broken, smashed or crashed. (It probably will).
--------------------------
[image description: two colored, digital drawings of Wax and Steris. The first one show them standing very stiff and proper, both their right arms are at a ninety degree angle in front of their bodies.Wax is a tall man with black hair at almost-touching-shoulder length, but combed back and long sideburns framing his equally long face. His expression is stern and discerning and he wears his dark tasseled mistcoat over a dark purple vest with a matching cravat, dark dress pants and his gun belt around his hips. On the inside of his right upper arm Steris white gloved fingers are visible. She has a soft, oval face with delicately arching eyebrows and a full mouth. Her hair is an elegant updo with half of it curled on her head and half of it falling down her back. She wears a white dress with a pigeon-breasted silhouette and a wide but still respectable neck-line, with dark details on the short puffy sleeves and the torso. In her hand she holds a dark handbag made from a soft material. Her gaze is hard to read. Somewhere between aloof, neutral and resolute. They stand in front of a backdrop of a cold, light grey. The second drawing has a warmer, light brown as the background colour and shows them smiling each other. Cautiously so – Steris with a questioning look in her eyes and Wax with a lifted eyebrow and a teasing expression.]
Lessie and Wax One of the first images springing into my mind when I started my Wax and Wayne reread. (I mean it is from the very first chapter from Alloy of Law). I really completely forgot all details about their relationship from my first read so it was kind of nice to experience all the twists and turns of it again. -------------- [Image description: Drawing of Lessie and Wax crouching behind a fence made from wooden logs and branches held together with rope. There is a colored version and just the scraggly linear. Both are holding revolvers in their hands, are wearing dusters over their clothes and look to be at least in the midst of their thirties. Their coats, pants and boots are smudged with the dusty, red earth. Lessie’s duster is a muggy white and has a small cape part over the shoulders. Her brown hair is pulled back into a ponytail. She has a square, suntanned face and gives Wax a cheeky, challenging look. Wax’s darker coat is cut into tassel at the shoulders and below the waist. Under it he wears a white waistcoat with a silver cravat and broad rimmed hat on his head. His black hair is almost shoulder length and his long face is framed by equally long sideburns. He looks back at Lessie, obvious adoration on his face.]
Marasi Colms
I found her character arc surprisingly pleasant. She starts out as such a fangirl, but matures so nicely from that. The more realistic sketches here are based on pictures of Jenna Coleman. She has the kind of prettiness I associate Marasi with.
Steris Harms She might be a side character, but she is definitely my favorite! I am not sure how satisfied I am yet, with what I came up here for her so far, but I am looking forward to draw her more. also: that moment when your new fiancé rescues you from your kidnapping, easily and literally flattens the building you’ve been held in and it definitely turns you on...
